This my second Celica but my first AllTrac. I purchased the car off FleaBay (will never do that again without driving/flying to see it first) the end of December, paid to have it shipped and received it early January. I was anxiously waiting for the shipping date to come and couldn't wait to see it. The car is nice to look at (minus the dent in the fender), overall the outside looks pretty decent. As soon as I attempted to start it to roll it off the trailer it was having a tough time starting so I got the jumper cables out, popped the hood (no battery there), then popped the hatch and find a big lead/acid battery just sitting there (unmounted) and with small gauge (no larger than 8 ) cables connected to the battery :nono:
This battery issue was the first problem on my list of PO F**K UPS. Tracing the cables and yes I said cables (they didn't even ground to the chassis close to the battery) through the engine bay I find this hidden treasure, notice the gauge of the cable coming from the hatch. . .
From the time I unloaded the car in December till just last week, without ever driving it, I have been correcting little issues.
This is my version, better quality?
I never took a picture of the big, heavy, unmounted battery with dinky wires but I wish I did. Here's my correction, notice the larger cable/ small battery. This is just an example of how if something is done correctly it will work and do so efficiently. I haven't once had a slow cranking start since I've been driving the car.
Pic of the Odyssey PC680 with some terminals I found at Batteries Plus, better deal than online.
