Gen 4 tach signal

I'm sure most people know the factory tach doesn't work after doing a gen 4 swap, how have most people rectified this problem? A tach adapter can solve this but has anyone ever used any other alternatives? I've read that a 10k ohm resistor can make it functional again, anyone tried this?

The Caldina 3S-GTE probably has the same tach signal as the Beams 3S-GE. Some Beams owners have used a resistor to correct for the difference.

I built my own tach adapter using a standard bosch coil relay and a transistor as seen in this thread :

It worked nicely.
