Braking makes my headlights pop up!

I was wondering if anyone could help me here, I'm a bit (completely) stuck on this one...

ST165 - Ignition on or car running - No stoplights, tail lights, instrument gauge lights.

Indicators ok.

Press the brake pedal - headlights pop up with lights on. Can't get them back down unless the key is removed.

Turn the heater blower to one mark past low - headlights pop up with lights on. Can't get them back down unless the key is removed.

Can anyone shed any light? Any suggestions gratefully received.

Sounds like you have a short or backfeeding somewhere, is it braking while moving, or just pressing the pedal in general?

interesting. I just fixed my tail light wiring when i hit brakes the parking lights would turn on. i had a short in one of the brake light wires that would backfeed power on the brakes to the parking light circuit

It'll be a bad grounding.

Check all the grounding bolts to the chassis under the dash, center console and the kick panels.

Spent far too long on this today, sad to report it was self inflicted.

Those fuses in the board by the kick panel, where they say no fuse, turns out actually one of them needed a link. Problem solved.

Very strange that lack of a fuse would cause that.
Oh well, nice work finding the problem.
