Pick up points can be move 1." So does that mean you can raise your strut towers 1"?
FROM SCCA GCR STU RULE BOOK
3. Suspension mounting points above the upper line of the wheel rim
must be retained within a tolerance of 3.0 inches, however, the
body/frame around the pick-up points may be reinforced; this reinforcement
shall be limited to a radius of 6.0 inches. The 3.0 inch
tolerance applies to pick-up points on chassis only.
4. The spindle and/or outer joint on the a-arm and/or strut may be
moved to correct bump steer caused by changing the vehicle ride
height. These components are not limited to the 1.0 inch of movement
that applies to the suspension pick-up points located on the
chassis.
5. Alternate control arms permitted.
The way I interpret the rules, yes. However, obviously there are other things to consider, budget which is always limited and the fact that we still don't seem to have a real solution for the front geometry to limit bump steer and adjust the roll center which I think will only get worse if I raise the front strut tops, plus they'll be through the hood probably.... And i dont know how those big wheels and tires will be clearance wise with the inner wheel wells and fenders (which cant be modified except for rolling and must be oem material). I plan to use whats left of the upcoming season after the car is built as a test season. I will compete 100% percent but without expectation and look to make improvements throughout and over next winter. I'm trying to be realistic with the build and not pour money at it since I still dont know how competitive she'll actually be going against much more modern equipment and some unlimited budget builds... my goal is to qualify for the runoffs in Daytona this year and Mid-Ohio next year...
basic build specs... forged 2.0, mild cams, 3sg intake manifold, ATS billet/inconel ct26(clocked and with inlet restrictor), haltech w/anti-lag, AST coilovers, superpro bushings(spherical next year maybe), st205 rear brakes, Wilwood fronts, cusco rear diff, possible KAAZ shorter gears, possible KAPS sequntial shifter, Evo X front mount..... still trying to decide if a carbon driveshaft will be reliable through racing abuse and worth $1500.... thats basically it. Plenty of ancillary stuff and of course things are always subject to change. It's taken this long so i'm sure there are more delays and set backs to come....
