These oil leaks are killing me! I slaved away this weekend to seal the oil pump and everything is happy. Took it on a drive to have it just leak from with in the timing cover.

Thinking its the idler pulley no 2 bolt hole on the pump. I had oil all over the back side of it when I took it apart. Figured it was from all the oil from the leaks.

I inspected the pump n didnt see any cracks n everything is sealed good!
Anyone else have this problem before?
Its not a bad leak but I want it sealed

Hey thank you for the candid review of the mounts

there are two common parts to leak on the oil pump, the oil pump oring (odd shaped oring that mates the pump to housing) and the shaft seal.

All those bolts should be torqued its very low torque setting I think 14ft/lbs if Im not mistaken

No prob! no one has really said much!? but i think the seal behind the gear is dunzo. hopefully i can grab a new one. http://www.koracing.net/productimages/T ... askets.jpg

I ordered a cometic top and bottom end seal kit.. so that should solve some issue and added durability.

What is you input for ARP head studs? necessary in my case? im sure they are worth it but idk.

Picked up some arp head studs. Torque spec calls for 60 per apr and bgb calls for 36lb. Stick w apr then..?

Just wanna make sure :D

get OEM seals and gaskets especially for ones that are not easy to change.

Use the ARP studs, torque to the suggested rating. That rating is for use with there moly tube so apply it LIBERALLY to EVERY surface. washers, nuts, threads. Make sure after a few hours of run time you go back in and retorque them.

pics of the tear down.

head wasnt warped but plenty gunked up.

HG failed at # 2 & 3

#4 was on its way out

ARP head studs and Cometic goods

had a shop clean the head up for me and pressure tested and replace valve seals as well..

I have a KO Racing DP on its way as well as a Bored fuel rail..
im sure i wont notice the bored fuel rail but i guess its a good add
with boost being set a 1bar.
should i pair it w a adj FPR?

I definitely want to get it tuned esp w the avcr and might as well see some dyno results in the future. But ill take it easy till then.

alright im rounding 3rd base on this hick-up!

got the parts i was waiting on from KO Racing

stock rail.

Bored to 8mm

And KO down pipe bolted on

Small clearance issue with the AC line touching but its touching the thick insulated part of the line.. so ill keep an eye on it.

just gotta do timing n wire up my oil prs gauge that wire up off the head.

wasnt aware the this adapter is what i needed to get my sending unit to bolt on! had in sitting in the garage for 4 years! :bangshead:

1/8-27 NPT Female to 1/8 BSPT Male

has anyone else tapped into there?
what kind of readings should i be seeing?

hopefully this weekend ill be back on the road n the n to the exhaust shop

man the last couple of days is has been nothing but issues!!!

got the car back together and started right up!
peaking around for leaks & the oil pan gasket is leaking... :x

first the cam seals in the kit wouldn't fit they were a bit to big!

then this! everything was torqued! so off with the x-members
re-sealed it with high temp copper rtv which has never failed me!

then as i was tensioning the alternator and the bolt head freaking snapped!
and that was the last thing i has to do!! before putting her on the ground!

freaking A man!!!1 :bangshead:

I feel your pain brother! I bought a timing component kit which had parts that caused me many headaches! With that being said I highly recommend that no one purchase the DNJ branded kit! But anyways, one of the issues I finally resolved was my oil leak which seemed/s a lot like yours. . mine was leaking from both cam seals that I conveniently replaced while I had the engine out but the seals weren't OEM and leaked so I had to re-replace them with the engine now installed (major PITA)!

If you have another leak after reinstalling everything I would double check your cam seals, it's hard to see them through the small gap from the metal plate for the upper timing cover but could at least get a hand in there and feel through the spokes of the cam gears to find oil.

Good luck!

Yea I learned how difficult it was to do! The cam seals.
But in a stroke of genius I made a seal press just for me and it worked perfectly and went in even!

I have spare metal around n tubing
I took basically fencing poles cut to length after measuring what I needed. Make sure it cleared the cam n sits on the seal centered
Smooth it out, grabbed a big flat washer n bolt and wrenched it in..
Worked out really good!

****need help!!

So after the rtv cured I added oil and started the car.
I noticed that the valve train sounds a bit louder than it did before
I maybe just from everything getting settled back in..

I pop the oil fill cap to see if I could hear it better.
And I felt pressured air with every stroke and to fallow rough idle and it wanting to die..

Wtf..!?!?

I know compression is good as I checked it before tear down
All within spec.

Is this normal?
Im aware that these motors are known PCP, but that much

Read up on other forums and some refer to pcv or rings. N some say normal..

*note that my car was on jack stands so it was at an angle if that matters...

And a jdm motor.
