front strut

Hi I was pulling apart my front struts to paint them and found oil in the housing. From what i can find this is normal. NO leaks, lost a little oil, can I put some back in? Any one know what oil, how full or how much to put in. thanks

Yes it was in the housing and yes I took off the big nut, wonted to make sure it would come off without heat.

The OEM housing is a gas pressurized strut as is probably stamped on the side... Don't think refilling will feel the same. You can install strut insert cartridges. Similar to a shock inside a strut...
