3sgte head differences / Alternator bracket

Maybe I'm the last one to the party on this, but I'm running into a surprising number of differences on my "new" head compared to my original head. Original head spec is 1990 st185, purchased rebuilt 2nd Gen head (unkown specific year) from a trusted member but it's had it's quirks. Mainly the alternator bracket. So 2 questions:

Was there a Rev1/Rev2 in the 2nd gen heads alone?

If yes, then are there different alternator brackets as well?

I'll try to get some pictures up for a visual reference. I didn't find a whole lot documented on this subject except viewtopic.php?f=50&t=38772 But my vehicle is USDM and didn't add up to their findings.

Hopefully someone else has had this predicament and found success!
 
I should add, original head has p/n 11111-88383. 'New' head has p/n 11111-88385.

EDIT: Solved! Judging by pics, this looks like a 7-stud vs 9-stud manifold issue. Original head was 7, new is 9. That extra stud location on the left side is where the original alternator bracket would have protruded to brace against the block. Interesting. Looks like its time to hack away at some alternator bracket material! #weightsavings
