Carrier bearings st165 same as 205?

Postby Anoo21 » Wed Oct 04, 2017 2:32 am

I have my eye on a st205 drive line with carrier bearings. Mine are shot on the 165. Did not know if anything knew if they were the same? Thanks

Welll....
unfortunately they are not compatible.... two different PN:

the 205 uses two different pn for the two bearings:
3723020200 and 3723020210 for the 205 1994/10 and later
3723020150 and 3723020160 for the 205 1994/02 to 1994/10

the 165 uses same pn for the two bearings:
3723020120 for the 165 1988/04 to 1989/08
3723020110 for the 165 1987/10 to 1988/04

double unfortunately, the 165 one (3723020120) has been discontinued long time ago......
However, I remember looking at this problem quite few years back (just after I found out the 165 one is discontinued...) and came to the conclusion that with a bit of engineering skills the 3723020200 (205 one which can still be found) can be made to fit in the 165 application. Fortunately for me I didn't need to go that route as I could locate a pair of the correct 165 ones and got them ...that was quite few years back....

Thank you for the quick reply I might have to just wait for another group buy of the carbon drive shafts. :( I might have to try to make the 205 fit somehow as well.
