Boost controller question

Hey guys, I bought a voodoo mbc on fleabay since I wanted one asap and it works but on my way home from work I go on a uphill fwy onramp to get on the freeway and usually am in 2nd gear. If I floor it, it'll usually hit 16-17 (what I set it at with several pulls) but sometimes it spikes and hits l19psi and fuel cut (gen3 st205 swap) ive had it happen in 3rd also.
I have the boost controller hooked up correct and I have the mbc close to the distributor so the lines aren't too long.ive had this happen in 70 degree weather and mid 50's also

Is it just a cheap mbc causing this? Any mbc recommendations?
I've been thinking of getting a electronic boost controller hoping to get rid of the boost spikes but man $$$$$$!

My guess would be the MBC is sticking, see if you can borrow a different one from someone local to you. If you want something a bit more predictable but without the high price of most EBC's you could get something like the HDi EBC. It takes a bit of adjusting like an MBC, but it's a lot cheaper: https://www.hybrid-power.com/_p/prd1/28 ... troller-se

I've got a brand new one sitting here I've been meaning to put for sale but I keep forgetting to.
