AGM Lightweight Battery?

Don't know if this is the best area for this but I was wondering if anyone has run a unit like this

From what I have gathered, it just doesn't hold charge well and may need to be jumped if sat.

It's a lighter and smaller battery but retains the correct cranking amps for the starter.
Does this work? What problems will persist?

don't recommend unless you have a dedicated track car. AGM, however is fine.
Makes sense so I want AGM for the small dimensions truth be told, the lightness is another side effect, so with that in mind would these be more correct?;
I know it has 'light' in the name but it looks like it is only slightly weaker in the cold than the battery that hasn't skipped on me yet (500cca).

iirc one user recently installed a smaller battery. i think it was rororei. i think it blew up, but that was due to crossing the cables. he did a write up on the light weight battery. check the search for it.

Just for future reference found what you were talking about. Don't know how I missed that. Thank you for letting me know. He put in a shorai lithium battery. I've heard only bad things about that battery from my background research into this from miatas and such. It looks good but I'd rather stick with lead still just due to consistency and price. Antigravity is the only lithium I truly trust atm and they're like 800+.

The Shorai works good. You just gotta not fuck up a jump right after your brother killed himself and you’re arguing with your old lady about stupid shit. My issue was I crossed the wires, then went inside and got entangled in bickering. Had I not been so beset by troubles would not have happened.

Avoid that and you’ll be fine.

Oh. And yeah. It gets cold in Colorado. Get the battery tender.

Cost and higher maintenance. But it’s $400 to drop 30lbs right off the front left corner of a nose heavy car that really needs it. I noticed handling improvements right away.

But above all do what you feel good and safe about. I got sold on the Shorai by some respected Japanese car guys (Drift King and his buddy) who put them in their rides. They made some weird hp claims but whatever.

Sorry to hear about all that....

Ok I'll look into those then. The stuff I heard was someone else (NB miata) had lit the whole car ablaze. A couple of FC rx7's also had starting issues as well, but like you said proper installation does wonders and moreover I guess it's rare you hear good cases so results are skewed.

For the agm it's only $200 and it's still 17lbs so I'll do some math and what not, maybe I can reference your build again. I'll post more here and on PROJECT 621 thank you once again.

I’ll follow up on this topic.

I ended up getting a 17 lb Braille AGM, because the replacement Shorai I got to put in with my TCS Motorsports swap didn’t like sitting in the passenger seat over winter wouldn’t hold more than 10.92 volts. I could float it, and installed a solar panel to charge it but it never worked well.

I still have the solar panel and charge controller hooked up to it. It kicks in when the charge controller reads 13.2v from the battery and cuts off when it reads 14v.

I have had zero battery related problems.
