Braking : st205 front and rear on a st185

hello all,
I know that this subject had been talked about multiple times, but I see that everyone have different solution (for different usages )

I had found front and rear st205 brake calipers for 1000€ (a bit pricey) with spacer and rotors (dont know what model) for mounting on st185.

For mounting the brake, I need :
- remove the front and rear dust plate or bend them
- find rotors that fit (diameter + center diameter + ) does st205 rotor work on st185 ? I think yes but with center ring since I had read that the st185 hole diameter is lower that st205 (54.1mmvs 55mm ?)
- find pads that fit (st205 again ? )

does the parking brake work with st205 rotors ?
I am looking for Oz chronos wheels (17") does they have enought clearance ?
does the st185 brake line (HEL) work with st205 calipers

Yes to everything
Ebc part number pd12kr206 will fit
You just have to decide how you want to makeup the hub centric measurement difference. I went with thin gauge aluminum sheet metal and just cut up a strip for each side.

Just because I’m curious, what do you gain with the 205 brake set? I am guessing more pots and larger diameter discs.

It says celica on them, so that's cool.
They're prettier and yes, dual piston.
They fill up more space behind the wheel than 185 rotors, so also they also make the car look better.
And I suppose better performance too, since they are indeed larger.

From what I have found, a 315-330mm rotor clears most 17" rims. I think the 205 just grazes 290ish. Should be plenty safe. No BBK?

I should clarify that this information is for the rear (I didn't read the title, sorry). The front is more involved in think. There is still an off-the-shelf option in the revolution big break kit for the fronts. If you want to do all four corners, I can confirm that one fits up front with the 205 brakes in the rear.

thanks for the replies !
I think I won't do this swap, instead I may install a big brake kit, willwood or other
I did a quick search at Summit for a Willwood kit that would fit an ST185, and found nothing. If you find a solution that works share it please.

Long, long, very long time ago, there was an GT4 list (before the forum time) and there was an group buy for Willwood brakes, I remember.

Tried to google something, but cannot find it anymore :-(

Hmm, does this help??? No, sorry.

There's still a bunch of options, a quick search found these:

K Sport has a bunch of other options for front and rear as well, that's just one of them

I built up a set of Ceika 6-pots with some options and it came close to $2000. $2400 for the 8-pot K-Sports with a caliper color option.

That's a lot but if you need 'em you need 'em. The Porsche/Brembo setup is a lot cheaper if you can find a set of the adapters from gtfourtc or Bill Dana.
