Rally Shoes

If you want to set the Alltrac up with the historically correct shoes, here are some options in late 2024:

TIRES: These can be hard to find. Hoosier makes gravel rally tires, in a variety of R15 sizes in left and right hand tread patterns--cool huh!? Probably most relevant would be the 195 or 205 65 r15 offerings. These are not so large that they would require any fender modification. I run a 205 50 r16 which is 24.1 inches tall. The 195/65r15 is 25 inches tall and the 205/65r15 is 25.5 inches tall. I believe that the narrower tire is more correct to what was run in the glory days of WRC.

WHEELS: Sadly, neither Sparco nor OZ offers 15 inch wheels anymore. You could of course just rock the OG oem 15 inchers. Black Rhino does offer some rally wheels. I like the Voll and the Boxer. Both are available in 15x7, 5x100 bolt pattern. The Boxer is lighter at 17 lbs, but is only in black. The Voll is 20 lbs but comes in hyper silver, bronze, and black.

I priced out a set, sourced through my local friendly Les Schwab, and if you want to rock the historically accurate shoes--say you're doing SCCA rally cross (Monachopsis)--it will run about $2500. Pimpin' ain't easy.

Here is some very relevant rally tire information . I'm not an expert, but here's what I've seen/done/etc.

Tires are going to be power/weight based. Too large of a tire and you're just wasting power turning them. Too small and you risk debeading. While there is no magic formula, here are some typical sizes for current rally cars in the ARA series:
All tires are going to be on 15" wheels and typically all have the same series, so i will only be using widths.

NA4wd typically run 185s(Or 175 pirelli as they are the same tread width). This is typically on a 2500-3000lbs na4wd car(2500 being the minimum weight allowed in that catagory)
L4WD typicall run at least a 195 if not a 205. But that depends on their power. Min weight is 3100 for the typical turbo cars(evos and stis).
O4wd typically won't see anything but a 205. Maybe a 215 on the Subaru big boys. Min weight is 3000 for the typical turbo cars.

You will typically want a 6" wide wheel on a 175. a 185 Calls for a 6 or 6.5. 195 a 6.5(maybe a 7). 205 and 215 7" wide.

As for tire suppliers:
Pirellis can be had from RM Autosports or Four Star Motorsports(in canada, but after shipping they tend to be cheaper than RM)
Hoosier can also be had from RM Autosports.
MRFs(they made a WRC bid earilier this year) can be had through Tire Streets
Federals can be had through Rally Build(a great budget tire)
Coopers can be had from Mr Tyre and Rallynuts(overseas). The US supplier has seem to dried up.
Michelin has relaunched their rally tire after a fairly long hiatus. They can supposedly be had from Four Star, although they weren't on their website recently. While i don't recommend TRF for anything, they can be had on from him too.
There are others across the pond but they may or may not ship here. You may also be required to buy a pallet(usually 32 tires) to get them to even consider shipping.

As for wheels:
Evo Corse can be had through Rally.Build.
Braids can be had from Team Illuminata
Braids can be had from Broken Motorsports
Spearco and Speedlines can be had through Primative Racing
Compmotives can be had through Demon Tweeks(across the pond)
Speedlines and Methods(eww) can be had through Four Star

I know a lot of these fitments are not going to be Toyota specific, however a Subaru fitment(5x100 on a lot of older stuff) is typically too high an offset at 50ish, but can be brought into the proper realm with a spacer- if not really pushing in real stage rally.
Another option is to convert to 5x114.3 and run Mitsubishi or Subaru spec which pushes you into more of a proper 30ish ET.

Wifey and I run a 91 Galant VR4(turbo, awd, sedan) for stage rally. Its got 25 rallies on it. We initially ran a 2.4l non turbo an then swapped in a V6 to keep up with the Subarus who were swapping H6s. We initially ran a 175, then moved to a 185. All have been on a Evo Corse Olympia 15x6.5 et22 Currently about 3000 lbs and the V6 is rated at 220 crank. Through the AWD, i'm guessing 200 at wheels. Or something.
We normally run a 91 Eagle Talon for rallycross. About 350hp and 2700 lbs. We run a 195 Pirelli(roughly a 205 everything else). And yes, we've been running it for years and it's been reliable. Wheels are some factory Infiniti 15s, 6.5 wide and et 32.
Since it wasn't reliable a few events ago- due to a bad fan switch- we took my daily st165 out for the last 3 events. I have swapped the hubs to 114.3 so I only need 1 bolt pattern for everything except our trucks. This enabled us to run the tires from the Galant. The 185s.
The st165 is slightly lowered on Feal MaxTravels. We slightly run on full compression on the rear. The fronts seemed to just clear.
This was plenty of tire for the 3mz in the 165. Yes, 3mz. It is still awd.

Throughout the years, tires and wheels have come and gone. no longer can you really get Team Dynamics, nor the Methods that Subaru was using. Lassa, Dmac, Maxxis, Black Rocket, Hoosier, Hankook all tires you can't really get anymore. If you can, they are old or used.

Rally tires are not really for the street. So i'd highly not recommend using them for that. While it is true stage rally cars transit on public roads to the stages, they wear on pavement very quickly and the edges round quickly which ultimately hurts performance. Subaru goes out on a fresh set at the start of each day and after each service. They are typically almost all used up too. The more grassroots guys tend to get 2-3 events out of a set. We typically get 3ish before they become spares to match other worn ones.

Goodluck.
