I'm surprised I didn't really find info searching. That may be down to my abilities to search.

But basically...how well does the st205 intercooler fit in place on the 1st gen engine? Just couplers that need replaced, or other stuff need done as well?

I had a st185 RC intercooler on my previous st165 - however it had a 2nd gen 3s-gte...so it fit perfect when I swapped it in. The st165 intercooler sat a little funny on the 2nd gen engine as I recall.

Circling back to this, I saw some posts on the alltrac.net facebook page of someone trying to fit a 205 wta on a 1st gen 3s-gte, and it wasn't pretty. The inlet pipe of the intercooler was hacked down a ways but still not very close to being lined up.

Some commented that it won't fit without using a twin entry turbo/manifold, due to the twin entry sitting further away.

I'm not sure what turbo I have to be honest, but I assume it is the original single entry, I know it was rebuilt once...but a long time ago, and I don't know if that was the original. It does have an eBay exhaust manifold that is likely made for the 2nd gen 3s-gte. I'm not sure if it sits differently enough to get clearance for either an st185 RC/CS or st205 intercooler or not. It does have an aftermarket coupler that is an inch or more longer than the factory coupler and seems to be sitting further away/has more space for one of the other intercoolers.
