tvis actuator part number/repair

while i was replacing a blown intake manifold gasket i found out that my tvis actuator (golden diaphragm) has a major tear in it wont hold any vacuum and just by looking at it im sure many of us have leaking actuators. reminded me of the cardboard speakers in the front doors.
many ppl gut it out and put a spacer in there but i do not want to effect the low end tourque that i never had and always wondered why.
i have been searching for a part number and could not find one i think you need to buy the whole $400 assembly. someone in mr2 forums took it apart and silicone the hell out of it to seal but im not sure exactly how that works. and one guy here used a supra diaphragm that he modded. im not looking for a used one cause its a pain in the ass to get in there with the engine still in and i dont want to be doing this again in the future.
so has any one else run into this problem and what was your solution???
any one have a part number for it?

My buddy did the silicone method not too long ago on his mr2 and its been working great so far. We found that not only did the diaphram have a leak but that half the butterflies were closed and the other half of them were open. Turns out that on one side the little arm attached to the shaft that controls the butterflies broke loose.

well i took a grinder to the diaphragm last night. turns out its not really torn the rubber part in there looks more like a cloth material i can even see through it in some areas from all the wear. i guess im gonna try and silicone it but im not sure its a reliable repair. all the linkages on my butterflies are still good.

Yeah we covered the whole surface with rtv and let it dry for a day before screwing the two metal halves together and installing it.

i had same problem, new one with bracket 400$, but this workaround just 20$ from supra (part number 17061-42010 ) and works fine

Registered an account here just to see if anyone saved and could re-post the pictures from this old reply from GeKID, or has done this workaround and knows what the modification steps were. The MR2 community with failing TVIS diaphragms would appreciate it. Thanks.
