Have you replaced the O2 sensor?

That vsv is the one for the egr valve. Shown in that diagram I sent. Mines broken the same way lol

And have you checked for engine error codes?

I haven't, i'm checking with the previous owner though to see if he had, he replaced a lot of parts but ran out of time and patience on it.

I don't believe that he did but waiting on his reply.

so basically it doesn't do anything at this point even if it is plugged in or should I unplug the sensor?

Check engine light has never come on so I never jumped the ports.

You should be able to just unplug them since theyre not doing anything. And the light doesn't come on for every code.

Is there a test for the AFM when the door is open?

for some reason the ST165 repair manual doesn't have the AFM testing in it it says to look in the ST162 manual for that, which I don't have.

Never seen that before.

Haha I've run into that problem so many times with the service manual. I actually just bought a st162 one that should be delivered today or tomorrow. I'll see if it's in there.

found the 162 manual..... AFM tests out fine with door open and closed.... now on to fuel pressure but the pump is supposed to be new.

Not quite sure how to test the fuel pressure on this thing as the tester in the BGB doesn't have an attachment like mine.

You need the circular type and the double banjo bolt with a gasket in between all , I normally tap in at the top of the fuel filter.

Finally got some spare time to try and figure this out again. Pulled codes. Got a 51 and 24 (I believe the 24 though was I hadn't plugged the AFM back in after testing it I read somewhere on this board that you will pull a 24 if it isn't plugged int)

So 51 leads me to believe that the TPS is bad??

Ordered one a few days back waiting on delivery.

Have not replaced the O2 sensor

Do you still have a charcoal canister? Either way. . If it's not connected properly or the entire system is missing, you could smell gas fumes from the tank (my guess).

lt2fire wrote:And When poking around to make sure the EGR was all gone I found another sensor that seems like it should have a line or something coming off of it.

So now the next question is what is this?

Where is this located? or was it just loosely laying?

I do still have the charcol canister sensor. i'm going to cap off that hard line

Cool ... I chased other crap on mine for awile years ago and then did the fuel pressure test and it failed miserably. I thought it was ok cause I had replaced the filter. Little did I know the inside of the tank was swiss cheese ....

well for some reason my multimeter is refusing to read anything right now. I sent it off to my friend who is good at fixing electronics because it was a fairly expensive one and I don't want to buy another right now.

So instead I ordered a new OEM TPS off of amazon.... if I install and it works great if now amazon's return policy will let me return it no questions asked and i'm not out any money... lol

If that isn't it back to the drawing board... the banjo bolt adapter finally arrived so i'll change out the fuel filter and install that this weekend if the TPS doesn't fix anything.

I'd check the wiring for the TPS as well, it doesn't matter how good the sensor is if the wiring is damaged.
