What is this? St185 transaxle

I'm removing the steering rack from my st185 and I saw this little metal piece with 2 12mm bolts and 3 holes on one side? It is located on the transaxle by where the passenger side CV axle comes out. It moves into three different position that line up with the holes.

What position does it need to be in for awd?

Its a test mode but not for use on road test mode ....
