Knock sensor / Code 52

I soldered in a new pigtail GM knock sensor harness, then got the code I because of a bad solder I did, soldered it much better a second time and didn't get the code for a while and now I have the code again. Any ideas?

Solder will fracture if the wires are not supported , ie wires moving at different speeds/angles. This is why mfg do not solder except on boards (the board provides support for the wire/contact that is soldered).

Ideally, you should use a proper guaged wire crimp (this is how the pigtails are constructed). If you want to solder, you can reduce risk by a) tying the wires together so they will vibrate together at same direction and speed and b) the them to some metal to reduce the general shaking by the wind.

I'd run a whole new shielded wire from the ECU, I had issues with the stock wire shorting internally. Personally I prefer solder, if you're heatshrinking it properly it shouldn't be able to flex enough to break. Manufacturers are always going to prefer crimping for the speed, and they'll know exactly what size crimps they need and have high end crimpers to do it. Most people don't have those luxuries.

It's just weird because it was working fine for a while after I soldered it, thanks though. I'll do some research on that.
