highway run against a...

-well tonight i just got back from meeting killer_siller at a car gathering you can say to buy his rc intercooler. well after an interesting night i was heading home on the highway when i saw what appeared to be a neon ahead. as i got closer and saw the duels and high wing i knew it was an srt4.
-i pull up next to him and give him the thumbs up b/c it was a nice clean looking car, plus one of my close buddies has one that keeps up with a viper, no joke, so i give those cars respect.
-anyway this was the first time i really ever instigated a race. i knew i would get my ass kicked so i decided what the hell. he gave me a few "phhh phhh phhh" to try and scare me away i think but i just dropped it into 4th and waited for him to hit it.
-we were going about 70mph and when we went i pulled on him through my whole 4th gear, by the time i was about to hit redline in 4th he was at my back bumper. sad thing is that my trans did not want to go into 5th at that high of rpm so i let off and he flies past me.
-we exit the highway and stop at a gas station to chat. his car is stock with mopar exhaust and bov and intake. he also said that he went from 5th gear and downshifted after he realized that he wasnt reeling me in, needless to say, i suprised him.
-oh well, i never knew my car had some fight in it. im kind of proud for the work i have accomplished from when i first had it -> to when it got totalled-> to now...
- i know people will ask so here it is: 3" aussie d/p, 3" ape midpipe (no cat), 3" ssac twin tip catback, straight intake, bkr6es plugs (one step colder for us 165ers), upgraded heat exchanger, constant pump mod, hood washer mod (i think it helps), twin-entry exhaust mani, twin-entry ct26, no fuel cut, wastegate boost w/ tvis enabled, @ about 13psi.....
i still have to put on the ct27, rc intercooler, devils own water injection, dayton intercooler pump, so i might still have some room for improvement.......

There's always room for improvement. I must admit, even being a Neon of all things they are pretty quick for the least amount of buck.

ya you can make them pretty fast for the money but id rather have something else "appearance wise" even though i dont think they are ugly but just not what i picture myself rolling around in everyday. oh i forgot to mention that my buddy's neon that keeps up with a viper is also his daily driver, it makes me sick.

when i got home i realized that i blew off those two vac lines on top of the throttle body, i should have ziptied them like i always do but i forgot.

Wait! what expressway were you on when this happened?
Cause I'm picturing a long stretch of the Ryan that's four lanes wide...

What a perfect playground...

yeah for sure we'll go crusin, but i know i got lucky that i happened to run into a car that was stock. most cars i have seen in that area have some decent money into them but i still would have raced anyway. im not afraid to lose b/c i know my car isnt fast so i wont be disappointed.

my finals are next week so after that i can help you out with your trac if you need it or you could get a wrench day going and get your car back in action for the summer.

I'll say it...I think they're ugly. Never see myself owning one.

In any case, congrats on that, they are quick littler suckers for stock and for the price you pay but it sure does feel good knowing you're getting faster and faster as the motor is in good shape and you're putting your goodies on.

Will you be dynoing after throwing on the CT27?

Yea finals suck... It would be great if we could get together for a wrench day. Maybe we could even get killersiller to join us... I do have to wait until I can afford to get the head reconditioned though.

yeah i prob will dyno after i get the ct27 on... i bought an rc intercooler from killer_siller but it doesnt fit the 165 motor without making the inlet on the turbo side shorter so i dont think i am going to run it anytime soon, i just dont want to hack it up and plus i want to go with a 2nd gen swap (or head) some day and it will bolt right up to a 2g motor so ill save it till then. for the mean time i will just run the 165 intercooler w/ water injection.

bloodmoney: where are you going to have the head rebuilt? i know someone who got their b18 head rebuilt for a pretty decent price but i forgot what the place was called, its pretty local to us and alot of people recommended them, ill find out tomarow.
