standard...

it blows my mind that someone in toyota hasn't thought of putting the caldina engine in the tc w/an awd platform. RETURN OF THE GT-4.

(then again, by the way toyota is heading in recent years, they aren't interested in a powerful sports compact)

And hopefully they will not set the price at 30k.
Still, it would give the EVO and STi a hard time, considering that it should be more reliable.

haha. i guess i wont be racing him with a tc any time soon. Scion was dicking him over with the monthly, and so was acura for the rsx-s..so..he got a CHEVY AVEO..i still dont believe that he got it, but he said he did. I wont believe him till i see it because thats a big jump from wanting a tc or type s, to a aveo?? plus, i know the guy and it dont seem like he'll drive something like that. i never expected him to get one of those. oh yea, and he use to own a 02 civic that got hit in the front and thats why he was looking for a car.

RSX-s is $23k 160hp/163 ft-lbs
tC is $16k 210hp/143 ft-lb
That's $7k different.
And you know what you can do with $7k :D ......

you got that backwards, Gary. tC has 160hp/163 ft-lbs, and the type-s has the 210/143. i know you know its a typo :p
oh and Scion was dicking him over with monthly. he said the rsx is less than what scion was offering.

Sorry to drag this up... But I'll admit owning both cars (which the Alltrac is still being repaired) the Alltrac would pull out ahead by a decent margin. By no means will it annihilate the tC, but it will beat it.

The tC by my standards is incredible! Guys/gals, this is a great daily driver. I am not going to upgrade anything on this car (it goes to the Alltrac :D ) because it is, for it's price, unbeatable for DD!

The car was a lot quicker than I thought, and the suspension was surprisingly stiff for this price (don't forget 17" stock alloys that don't look like crap and 4wheel disc brakes). The interior is superb for it's class, so is the exterior (although I see a lot of BMW/Volvo inspiration in the exterior of the car, no worries it looks more $$$ than it really is).

As I've said before, I have no idea how Toyota is making money selling these things at such a low price! My friend recently picked up his 04 Civic Si for $22k+ where as I bought mine (no options) 2005 (w/ 100k warranty) for $18,500. Monthly payments don't hurt either, and the insurance in my area is pretty good (I pay about $400 a year on this car).

Sales pitch or whatever you want to call it, the car is a real treat for it's price.

EDIT
BTW, Toyota mentioned their TRD SC unit for it. It should make a modest 200hp, but they even went as far as saying 300hp. I doubt the 2nd claim. The engine bay is HUGE though, you could easily shoehorn a V6 in there...
