Absolutely! I wish I got your old hood, I've been looking for one for years now. I have two carbon hoods and both only took a short period of time to peel and crack. . . I basically swap them out and repair the extra as needed, the hood I have on currently is painted but even that finish is degrading (from the inside out).
Well I'm certainly excited for my carbon fiber hood

I assume these aren't sun damage. I see a lot of carbon fiber hoods made in similar ways across many, many platforms (because racecar) and I don't see this kind of issue being reported broadly. Very interesting.

It certainly places me in mind to install that heat protection recommended me by CTechBlueDragon.
Anyone have any thoughts?

Right on. Do you have a picture of your application? Seems like it can be got in tape and sheets.

I bought a sheet of thermotec to try it out. My hood (and I expect yours as well) has a lot of curves which make it challenging to cut away cleanly. In retrospect I think I would of gone for the large sheet and just applied it over then cut away the middle as needed.
This probably isn't enough (especially on the downpipe side) but we'll see how this goes.
