I was just interested in seeing how many people have had their AllTracs repainted. I don't think I'll be doing this for some time, but I'm curious as to the cost and experiences people have had.

I had mine repainted because of an accident, it used to be super red, I spent about 2 g's on the paint, but my biggest complaint is that I really dont think the guy that did the work did it correctly. I'm getting a lot of chipping and when i examine the chips really well it looks like there is still a solid layer of clear coat under my new paint. the old paint just wasnt treated properly, I forget what they use, but they're supposed to strip the top layers off the old paint before they can apply a new scheme. oh well :(

I got mine done a few years ago. The factory red had detriorated to factory pink :x . Anyway, I knew the guy and got a good deal - basically, it was wet sanded for free. It's a red metallic, but the metallic is so fine you can only see it up close, not like a bass fishing boat. It turned out very nice. 8)

Usually post-production paint chips more often because they don't bake the paint at the same temp to cure it. It hurts the rubber and other non-steel bits (correct me if I'm wrong here, I just heard this). Anyway, I have a few chips in this paint, where the factory paint did not chip.

I have painted lots of Toyota's in Chicago and can give referances. Without seeing your car in person a ballpark figure would be about 2500.00. Super Red II is a very expensive color. I don't do crappy work, I will be painting a 99 Ferrari 355 Spyder tomorrow, also I will be in Chicago Thurs. for the weekly meet at Borders on Golf. so maybe you can stop in.

RIalltrac....

If the paint thickness isn't too thick, you can just scuff the outside coat and paint over top of it. there are things you have to do if you change the color, like sealer and such. which all change the price of the paint job.

got mine repainted....was supposed to take 3 weeks, be 3 stage, color sanded, keyholes filled etc...

6 weeks later I picked the car up with a single coat, no keyholes filled, and several drips....i told the owner i was taking my car back and if he honestly thought he deserved he should be payed, he could sue me....

He obviously knew how horrible their service and job was....i never heard from him again....

at least with my rally graphics, the sub-par job isn't noticable...

within the next 6 months both me and my brother's car should be seeing TOP SECRET GOLD....

Hadmine repainted for the cost of cheap paint. $100. I got what I paid for. Most places quoted me between 2,500-3,500 to do the car. The get a coat fixed is cheaper then changing colors. Mine will need to be stripped and done again. Guess since I am tearing it down I will do that too.
