Sno*Drift

Sno*Drift is almost here, woohoo :)

This will be our 5th year of fun in the snow with the Trac's. We're planing to take the same 3 as last year, 2 65's and a 185. All three are running good and have good snow tires... I've got to finish up a rear adjustable shock project on my 165 before the trip, replace my tran fluid w/RP, change oil, and maybe a few minor items, but otherwise ready to go! I hope... 'cause we'll be doing over 11 hundred miles, mostly highway, but once you get there, that changes.

Speck'ing the race stages, checking out the all the Rally cars at the High School, driving backraods between stages, it's just a blast. And, the Alltracs draw attention. So.... if your're thinking about going, do it!

Below are a couple of the roads between stages and some of the course roads....

... BTW, the 185 had Goodyear All Seasons vs. 165's w/Blizacks... (which saved my Trac & ass last night, from a PU truck spin out on black ice in front of me)

Thanks Towels, yeah, a tripod would be nice sometimes but would get in the way other times.

Hears a link to my video of the First stage, Friday afternoon, sometimes a simple right hand turn is not so easy....

These two links, of the stop sign, I've posted before, are my favorites...

Yesterday, we ran in the 330 SnowBall race, 50 miles of some Akron backroads. It was a blast, very few of the roads had been plowed yet, lots of fresh deep snow.... I pulled a Paseo out of a ditch, and took third place, on millage. http://forum.330tuning.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1704

Waiting for the Snowball start...

And, the Tracks got press in the clubs Email

Well, I’m not sure what was more impressive…the 8-10 inches of snow we
received or the 14 teams crazy enough to tear through it! Fourteen teams,
that’s right, for a snow rally in Northeast Ohio! Who say’s that we don’t
mind a good challenge?!

The SnoBall330 was bound to be a success as the forecast early in the week
predicted 10-14 inches of snowfall throughout the weekend. And boy did we
get it! We took early precautions, making sure to have a Rescue Team on
hand (thanks again Phil!) and other emergency crews on-call. Low and
behold though, the only ones doing the pulling were Team Liberty and Team
ST165 (All-Trac FTW by the way!).

We had all makes and models on hand for the SnoBall330. From German
quality to Japanese luxury, and American SUV-goodness to older Celica
collectibles. And with 50 miles of back-road traveling to do, let’s not
forget to give credit where credit is due...to the front-wheel drive cars;
some of which got stuck a time or two or five. I myself even got stuck
attempting to steer lost rally-goers the right direction.

Teams left the start line within under 15 minutes of each other, yet grew
further apart as they trudged on. In fact, more than a couple teams
arrived at the Finish Line before some teams could even reach Checkpoint
#1! The predicted 140-minute target time was broadened to a 200-minute
average, while the 50.9 mile target mileage was pretty much adhered to,
with the exception of Team Liberty getting lost and using a lifeline and
Team Bill&Brittany and Team Tyler is Crazy taking part in some much-needed
wheel spinnage (not spinach, spinnage).

All in all, the SnoBall330 was a complete success! Special thanks to Greg
for manning Checkpoint #1 (for more than two cold hours!) and to Darrell
and Mandi at Magic Edge Vinyl for hooking us up with the design and
production of another awesome and unique decal, as well as some candid
driving and takeoff pictures.

The clock is ticking! The first Gumball330 of they year is just 5 months
away on June the 13th. That’s roughly 150 days! More details to follow.
Be sure to check the forums at www.330tuning.com for the latest news and
information, or www.myspace.com/330tuning to stay up to date with us!
Pictures will be posted as soon as available in our gallery, also found at
www.330tuning.com.

We thank you very much for being a part of the first annual SnoBall330.
We’re glad everyone got back safe and really hope you had fun! Here’s to
the summertime and the spring defrost (raises glass)!

Hahahaha :)

Mapquest it! You're in the UP right? Its basically hop on the bridge and drive southeast until you hit Atlanta... 300 miles later.. :)

Isn't your brother in school down in Big Rapids? It just about the same drive if you don't take the ferry.
