New here.
I have a red 1988 ST165 inbound to Raleigh, NC on 8/31/2020.
Planned mods
White 17 inch OZ wheels from Tirerack
World Rally sticker pack from England
Front light pod modeled after the World Rally cars
Enjoy
Future
3S-GTE - Newest - highest HP engine I can find
Biggest question so far
-How many ST165s were produced in 1988 and how many were imported in the USA? I found all the data on the ST185.
About me
Huge Toyota and Toyota Land Cruiser fan - Have a highly modded 2004 LC that I take to Uwharrie offroading quite a bit.

Re: New Member - NC - 1988 ST165
Welcome to the group.
Not sure if anyone knows the st165 numbers, I’ve never seen them.
For the engine, the 3rd, 4th, and 5th gen 3sgte have about the same power out of the box but if you’re wanting to build it up your best bet is a 2nd or 3rd gen. 3rd gen is probably the best middle ground between factory power and potential.
Good luck!

Welcome to the group. And congrats on the new toy!! Best idea to go with a later Gen 3SGTE (Gen3/4). I agree with Transneptunian69, the Gen 3 is a happy medium, but you can't go wrong with either. (Depending on HP goals).
OZ wheels (white)...so common on Alltracs, but I get it (rally theme). Still cool.

Looking to get myself a Land Cruiser/LX470 too, hopefully this year. Been wanting one for ever. I love these trucks. Father owned 3. Time to get my own.

Anyways, hope you share pics and update us. Hope you start your project thread as well.

Thank you. I may stick with stock wheels for now.
Where is the best place to source a gen 3/4 engine? 250 to 325 hp would be great.
These alltracs are heavy.
Any other wheel choices?
Let me know if you have any 100 series questions. I have 3 now. I have been on www.ih8mud.com for over 15 years. I know 100 series inside and out. ;<)

I got my engine at the time from a local importer, but these days inventory seems to be lower than normal all over, and the few that are on Ebay are expensive. But usually Ebay, or FB Marketplace engine importers is a good start. The Alltracs are heavy, but still lighter than newer AWD cars.
Wheel choices? Subjective, and depending on budget. Personally, I'd first look at Enkei, Gram Lights, WedsSport, SSR, OZ (as well)..
These links provided are just suggestions.

Or if on a strict budget, and you want good wheels for your money, look into these.
https://konigwheels.com/wheels/flow-formed-wheels/
You can also look at Cosmis, Rota, Varrstoen, ESR, 1552 Design, if you're on a stricter budget. Most of the ones below are replica wheels, but not a big deal for most (or else there wouldn't be a market for them, right?). Your money, your choice at the end of the day.

Again, these are just ideas/suggestions. Final choice lies on you.
Or if you ultimately want some bigger wheels that will fit, you can always go tC wheels. One of mine has tC wheels on. Fits well. Actually a few guys on the forum have them on their Attracs.

Thank you. Raleigh, NC.
These are all used high mileage Cruisers. 100 series prices are really low for what you get. All 3 have over 220k. I have an 2004 - highly modded, 1999- oldest daughter, 2000 - youngest daughter.

Nice!!!! Exactly what I want. My father owned the 60 and 80 series LC. They are great SUVs. Most I've looked at have similar mileage. I'm not afraid to get one with that mileage. I am always looking. I wish more came with dark gray or black interiors. I'm not a big fan of light beige interior cars (with kids).
But I'll bite regardless.
I will be checking out your pages. Thanks.

I'm confused. You need to know what color white wrap? Are you looking for a color code? Or...?

Holy wow. The All Trac will be on a truck in 2 weeks from WA state.
I am not sure what I am doing with it.
I have the stickers ready to go. The white wrap and the sticker pack from the UK.
Youtube of 1st to 2nd shift. https://youtu.be/aNBDq4zqODg
I have a few pictures as well. Need to figure out how to post the pics.

Already had one incident.
Shipper showed up with a roll back and tow bar. He was about to hook the Alltrac to the tow bar and the seller was like, the Alltrac is all wheel drive and needs to go on the rollback. Shipper had to switch the cars out. Ugh.
Hope that doesn't happen again.
Fingers crossed.
