Production Numbers

I've read a few things about production numbers on the ST185 and this site has a ton of information.
http://www.celica.dds.nl/en/celihist.htm

But I've also read that your door sticker will say your production number. Mine says number 879. But according to FLOWER POWER they only made 591 in 1991?

Is my 879 number including all All-trac from 1990 as well?

I don't have either of our family's two ST185's in my garage anymore (both at my son's), but I'll ask him to take pics of his door stickers. His two were built in 2/90 and 4/90.

From a gross production of ST185's, the end of your VIN tells you what number yours was made in 6/91, very near the end of the 1991 model year (yours was the 15,266th one produced as an ST185). Per your attachment, through 5/91, there were a gross total of 14,501 made. The first 1992 model made in 8/91 was the 15,xxx made at the time (too bad there isn't numbers in place of the x's). But your VIN ties in nicely with this production data.

591 made in model year 1991 refers to those made for the USDM (United States Domestic Market). There were 803 produced for the USDM in the 1990 model year. I don't think the reference to no. 879 pertains to either the USDM number or the gross number (given there were already 803 made in for the USDM in model year 1990).

Thanks for the response. I figured my car must have been close to the last ones built in 91 so thats why the number on the bottom of my tag didnt make much sense to me. Let me know what you find out on your 2. Im really curious

Mine is number 942. It was built on 1/1/90 if the Toyota system is correct. My VIN ends with 3780. This means my car is the 3,780th ST185. I would assume it is the 942nd ST185 For the 1990 model year produced for the US and Canada (and maybe Mexico?). The production figures I have seen don’t seem to include Canada with a breakdown by year, only that North America received 2,500 from 1990-1993.

I’m curious if EU/JDM cars have a similar number on their tags.

My son's two All-Tracs - regarding the number shown at the bottom of the sticker:

Build Date No. at Bottom
02/90 540
04/90 928

Given yours was built on 06/91 and it has a lower number (879) than the one built on 04/90 (928), I'm pretty sure that number has nothing to do with a production number or sequence number.

Also given there were 803 units made for the USDM, it has nothing to do with that either (the 04/90 build number is higher in MY 1990 than were built for the USDM).

I'm sure than number means something (they wouldn't have put it on the sticker if it didn't mean anything), but what it means, I don't know.

Mine was built in 06/91. I wonder if anyone else has a 91 that would like to share their number?
