Firstly, please be indulgent with my spelling and choice of words. I'm Swedish, english is not my native language.

Anyway this is my project:

Mods (when i bought it):
*Supra CT26A turbo (from 7M-GTE)
*Custom autobahn88 FMIC 600x300x100mm
*ST162 cams In: 240deg, 7.2mm lift, Ex: 240deg, 7.2mm lift
*ST162 Camcovers
*ST162 Intake manifold
*ST205 Metal headgasket
*255lph henko fuelpump
*Malpassi progressive 1,4:1 FPR
*Custom 3" turboback, 1 muffler
*aftermarket Airfilter (not insert)

When I bought this one as a replacement for my previous ST165 September 2006, it was burning oil. Because of this and a few other things I got it for a reasonable price. The seller thought the cause was a bad turbo. It was just that along with something else. I changed the turbo to another I had laying around, which i knew was good. At that time it was still smoking, but not so much and mostly only when on the throttle.

Only got around to do a couple testrounds last fall and finaly partially melted nr3 piston and broke/ chipped (right word?) a exhaust valve on the same cylinder.

SO this year I have been building 2 engines. One Gen3 3S-GE converted to GTE with a goal of 500 flywheel hp and one simular to the old one (but hopefully better) as a temporary solution/future backup engine.

Backup engine (almost completed):
Mostly built form parts lying around.
3S-GTE Gen1 engine block, honade cylinders, painted.
3S-GE Gen3 pistons and conrods (86mm, 10,5:1 CR)
Head gen1...
ST205 metal headgasket
3S-GE Camcovers
3S-GE Intake manifold
Supra 7M-GTE turbo
3S-GE Thottlebody
Everythin refurbished and painted :)

So I finished the gen1 engine build but I sold it because i did not finish it in time for the summer. Therefore there was no reason for me to keep it. Sold it to a fellow enthusiast from Toyotaclubsweden. Made some money on it, but I basically got back the money I'd put in to it. It was an god experience though because now I'm putting together the gen3 engine which I'm a bit more considerate of :) ´

Firstly I suppose you want som pics of the gen1 engine:

Finally finished. Still missing a few pieces but that is for the new owner to transfer from his old engine. Here I've just helped him to load it on to the trailer for transport. I think it came out very god looking. What do you think?
IM002407.jpg

The car is looking kind of sad and dusty in the workshop. Has been there 1,5 years now  But this spring it's going to come back to life again :)

IM002416.jpg

Ok, on to the gen3 engine now.
The block har been thoroughly cleaned, masked and now painted.

Late last night I adjusted the piston ring end gap accordingly to spec for the first cylinder (or 4th if one is pickish). I had to be a little inventive since I do not have a piston ring grinder. You can see my "tool" laying on the engine stand right beside the engineblock, a straight edge and some 320 grid paper. Worked very well. It exceeded all my expectations :)

Also I had to revise my plans for the head. I'm going to use a stock but cleaned Gen3 head now. I have another head which I'm going to get fully built with oversized valves and everything later though.

More uppdates will follow soon...

Looking good!
Nice to see another st165 project.
Do you have the K-sport coilovers on there???

Ive always wondered what exactly is meant by this anti lag system . ive read about them having it . did this come stock or something that has to be brought back to life?

Wow. Great project/rebuild thread.
That is the biggest FMIC I've seen on an ST165!

bild214vf7.jpg

I'm curious, what downpipe is that? The only other one I've seen with the flex pipe is the Berk Technology DP.

Thanks guys!!

Klas: Yepp, they are k-sports. 5995 kr was just too cheep :) I have yet only test fitted one thought. I have the "strut space adaptor" to fill up the hub holes since these are for the st185.

Kcman91gts: ALS keeps the turbo spinning constantly by moving the combustion to the ex.manifold during shifting etc. Came stock but disabled on ST205WRC along with a couple other goodies.

All-Trac Dude08: I wish! I rent a small work space in a tuning shop. I would like to get my own workshop so I really can get to work. But finding a suitable place/facility is unfortunately not that easy :(

Rick89GTS: Yepp, it's quite large. The core is 600x300x100mm (thats 24x12x4 inches  )
I bought the downpipe second hand. It is custom made in the UK accordingly to the former owner.

88st165: The crashbar did not fit when I bought the car. I can make it all fit if i cut a little into the vertical brace under the hood lock. However I think I'm going to modify it all to get som more airflow in to it.

86Half-Trac: Interesting, I think USDM tail lights and non folding mirrors are quite nice, different anyways. Mirrors seems lighter, more aerodynamic and probably don't wobble like hell at speed as the folding ones does. The grass will always be a little greener on the other side :)

And all these parts for the anti lag are purchaseable through toyota ? or do you have to source them out individually ? is there any articles on how this works it would be cool to learn about

/\ +1 on ALS, news to me.
I WANT THOSE TAIL LIGHTS!!!!!!
Heh, that's what I said when I saw them... and the corner lights and grille emblem.

That FMIC is so dang huge... I'm jealous! I love how there's a Murcileago (?? that yellow car) next to an All Trac, could be Simba's garage 8)

Great work, lovin' the project so far!

Kcman91gts:
They should be, but firstly valves are probably disabled (2 weld tacks holding them shut) and these cars are getting old and spare parts go out of stock... I bought the ex.manifold and air piping through toyota. My manifold was located i Norway... If you get hold of all the WRC parts you will still need an EMS to control it.

It's been written about many times on the forums and other places. Use the search feature or just google it
It's not very suitable for the road though, turbos and exhausts die like flies on my bumper...

wakkjobb:
It's a Gallardo

Klas:
Sorry, havn't weighed them. But it should not be such a stretch to do so if I only can find a scale somewhere. I don't have one myself. I think they are a bit lighter.

I got a little inspired by your thread Klas. Right now i can't decide if I should tidy up the head like you did on your car or not. I've wanted to do that for a while. I know how to do it in theory, but I'm afraid I might mess it up  I have another gen3 head I will get fully built later as I mentioned.
