right after a lot of delays and a very long drive down to Surry to get the car mapped we now have some good news and some bad news, the good news is that the car is running great and my god is it quick, the bad news is that we only managed to get 377.4bhp

A/F + boost
28042010834.jpg

Greg did say they there is plenty left in the engine juts the turbo was starting to blow hot air so not worth pushing it anymore, and he also said that he felt that set up on the rollers were not the most accurate may not the right thing to say more that the set up is different to what my car is use to being maped on and it would be worth me going to Weston and doing a power run as this is where the car has bin mapped before. but I do have to say it pulls much harder and feels a so much quick that what it did before, all in all im happy with how it drives

might clock the turbo will see how things go but i and i have just noticed that im not runing 1.6bar if you look at my power graph im just hiting 1.5 then it tailes off to 1.4bar witch i now no it down to my boost contorle as it can only handle upto 1.2bar max so need would explane the 23is bhp down from the 400bhp i was hoping for, time for a new controler i think

bit of an update as some of my know i have bin getting over heating problem and it looks like it is the head lifting under boost, and the other thing i have now got is oil vapour smoke out the air filter :( and to add to that my oil pressure seem to be very low :?

But now we have some good new I have just checked the oil pressure with a Snap-on oil pressure gauge and all is well, at idle I’m getting 20psi and as soon as I rev the engine it goes up to 50psi so it is just my gauge or sender to the gauge
just been out for a spin with both the cam breather and idle valve pipe disconnected and I’m still getting oil vapour smoke out the air filter so I’m guessing it can only be the turbo seal on the cold side :( so its turbo off and send it back to TT and see if that will fix it under warranty as I have only had it 6months and done 600miles on it. retorqued the head so fingers crossed that will sort the head lift and my over heating.

it looks to me as if that have sent me a new turbo with my 1.4bar actuator fitted to it, not bin of a blast yet only a steady drive to make shore every thing is ok :) i did have to pay half to the repair bill so not to bad i gess

a bit of an update on the engine, as i was still getting over heating problems we did a hydrocarbon test and it showed that the head was leaking:( so we got the head off and First indications show no obvious gasket problems but it appears it may of leaked some oil towards the no.3 cylinder area and gravitating on the passenger side. This verifies the oil puddle in the workshop being on that side.

Also, there appears some bluish tinting near some of the waterways, indicating super heating.
Plus...the cylinders show wear on the thrust sides, are smooth and blacked, due to very rich mixtures.
The cross-hatching has faded and you will burn more oil. Honing is the answer, but requires piston removal etc.
We then had a look at the head and it has warped near no.2 and no.3 cylinder so the head is now off the be skimmed,

here are a few photos of the block

Have collected the head also and I'll do a leak test tomorrow.

got some bad new :( after the track day i was out testing the car and the crank thrust bearings failed :(
so I striped the sump of to have a look and what I found was not good :( all of this was in the sump
2011-09-04190625.jpg

2011-09-04190636.jpg

2011-09-04190631.jpg

I then took of the crank bearing to see what the thrust bearings look like and found this
2011-09-04190713.jpg

2011-09-04190719.jpg

2011-09-04190725.jpg

as you can see it has worn away the edge of the bearing cap and killed the bearing and thrust bearings.
2011-09-04190705.jpg

I then had a look at the big end bearings things are not good :( number 2 and 4 big end bearing have gone and the crank is nakerd,
2011-09-04190640.jpg

2011-09-04190650.jpg

and I can all so see where bits of metal have gone up and hit number 3 piston:( so it looks like it going to have to be a full strip down to see if the boars rare ok or if they need honing or even a reboar :(
