Did you verify that both fans turn on when the ac is going?

And for the front speakers, if the boxes are there, you just add whatever speaker you can make fit.

To simplify things I wired one electric fan to the existing connector for the condenser.

I then connected the other fan to a new 30amp relay and fuse. Both fans run non-stop because i removed the sensor.

After I pull the grill I don't see any sort of box, just a circular opening so I guess I will have to get replacement boxes.

Still !!! uhhhh You dont have the metal overflow tank ? Just the plastic bottle ?

Yep =(

Nah the overflow is plastic. Would that make a difference? I'm going to take it for a local drive to see if it overheats after some traffic if it doesnt then thats a step in the right direction.

It is possible , I think they call that the " Pre " recall setup. Mine has a metal " pressure tank " Maybe the A/C just pushes cooling system pressures high enough for the overheat. The way yours is setup the pressure cap would need to be on radiator. The way mine and others are setup is the cap on radiator is just a pass through with no guts , spring etc and the pressure cap is on the metal bottle ... Another note. That old radiator looks cruddy so even if it wasnt plugged was good to toss it ... Speakers. Check my project thread. I posted some stuff with homemade tweeter mounts I put in there. Theres only one part so someone just took speakers out prol.

That's interesting because the original cap on the radiator had no guts. The one I bought recently is .9 which is the one I'm using now. Why would my original cap be missing the guts?

Well , I think we may have stumbled on to something here ... If the old didnt have guts and just plastic bottle then thats a problem ... no pressure. So if yer now running a pressure cap then it should have changed a little ... hmmm Plus if the old cap had no guts then why dont you have the metal pressure tank ? Something aint right ... I would look for a metal pressure tank next and convert that to the newer style ...

But should a radiator with a pressure cap solve the issue?

Is it also possible the fans aren't moving enough air? I was driving for about 15 minutes and i noticed temps were fine. Parked and let the car idle and i saw the temps very slowly started to
I'm also thinking there has got to be more air in there cause my heat works but its not super hot even if i move the little rod by the fire wall by hand.

I would say a regular cap on radiator should work if its sealing in top of radiator correctly. So regular driving its ok until you stop ? or even driving down the road with A/C it still overheats ? Could be more air in there ... do you have one of those fancy plastic filler things to put on there and bleed air with ?

Yep its a regular .9 bar cap i picked up from autozone.

If i drive locally for a while it will start to get warmer than normal. It takes a while. Or if theres heavy traffic. Also depends on the weather temp.

On my way home tonight the car was perfect. The whole ride was about 15 mins. A few stop lights and stop signs i also stopped at a dunkin donuts drive thru. No rise in temp. No over heating.

If i drive on the highway with ac i dont recall any overheating but i know shortly after the temp will start to rise AFTER i get off the highway and hit local (AC still on at this point.)

Nope dont have that fancy filler. Im thinking it could be more air. My driveway is a bit steep so i usually park it on the incline to help bleed it.

OK so it sounds like its getting better than before which is good. I think maybe a little air is possible but maybe look at the fans a little closer too. They are both set to pull air inward right ?

Yea im thinking air also.

Yes I tested both fans to make sure they are moving air correctly. Both pulling air from OUTSIDE.

To help get some heat out of the engine bay i removed the rubber strip from the rear and front of the hood and raised each side of the hood by sticking some washers between the hood and hinge.

More details.

Drove to work today. Usually a 10-15 minute drive. Outside temp was around 87* and sunny

I hit about 3 lights and then got on the highway for about 8-10 minutes exited off and hit 3 more traffic lights. Pulled in the lot and idled for 2-3 minutes and no overheating. No AC for the entire ride.

Tomorrow morning ill get up early and see if I can get more air out of the system before I drive it.

Def invest in one of those fillers , not only does it keep from making a mess everywhere. You will know for sure all the air is out , and the coolant in the filler can be plugged off and put back in the bottle. Its really an awesome tool. I wasnt convinced till I used it for the first time. Dont forget about that thermostat .... if you didnt put it in there then god knows whats in there ... I've heard alot of storys on aftermarket ones here and recently had a bad aftermarket one right out of the box that went in my Dads Tahoe ...

Check the water/coolant level in the radiator and the tank (though you probably have already done this).

As for the hood... get those seals back on there. With the front one, you want as much air going through the radiator as possible (and not sneaking around it into the engine bay). For the rear seal/propping, that area is high pressure and will be forcing air into the engine bay. Both of those things together reduces the effectiveness of your radiator (higher pressure in engine bay = less air through radiator). Cool your engine bay by allowing air out, not by putting extra air in.

Got a link to a filler? Yea im gonna order the thermostat tonight. Just need to get the right part number.

I drove home and put the heat on full blast figured it might help move any air pockets while i drove. The air was hot but at times it would go warm for a little then back to hot. Also this morning while i warmed the car up i noticed the temp needle did a bit of a dance when i gave the car some gas. Twice it just moved erratically and went back to normal. Has not happened since then. To me these symptoms sound like air also...

Thanks for the info . Did not realize those two pieces were important. I also checked the levels and everything checks out.

Link to the filler I bought ( there are other models than Matco ) http://www.matcotools.com/catalog/produ ... M-ADAPTER/

Thermostat part # 90916-03090 ( OEM )

Awesome thanks. I hope they send me the right part everyone i order they send the wrong parts. Toyodiy sucks sometimes....

Any reason why when my ac runs i get warm air from two vents and semi-cool air from one? Compressor kicks in fine. Wonder if something might be leaking.... I feel like the car is constantly hot inside like heat is always on....

Freon charge is prol a little low. They are hotter inside ... Imagine if yers was black like mine. lol After you get yer air bled out you can turn the heater control valve off to keep the hot water out is the temp control isnt working. Sometimes they foul up since they are electronic ...
