I'm on Aquidneck Island.

Decided to tackle some of the underside today. I've been putting this off till the last thing pretty much. Wasn't really as bad as I expected other than getting completely covered in dust and debris.

It was mostly just surface rust under the cracking undercoating. I didnt find any actual rot other than some surface pitting. Some of the tighter corners I'll need to keep an eye on since I couldn't get the angle grinder in to them and just used a scraper and chisel.

Pictures didnt come out so great but that's ok.

So I thought I broke my ABS sensor on passenger side rear when I extracted it from the spindle, but after putting things back together it was fine.

Before I knew that I had already started shopping for another sensor. Ours are either unavailable or extremely expensive most of the time. I started looking around at other Toyotas to find something close. Turns out the 2001 highlander AWD sensor is a damn close match. The wire is about 3 inches too short with a different plug, but the sensor itself plugs right in to the spindle. The best part is that it's $15.

I'm noticing the the late 90s early 2000s awd highlander rear bits are very similar. I'm starting to wonder what else is swappable.

Yay the subframe is back in the car. Used my transmission jack I bought from harbor freight years ago to do the clutch in my subaru.

I keep forgetting I need to order 1 bolt for the trailing arm on the driver side.

Broke my fuel line when I pulled my gastank so I used a couple of -6an to 3/16th compression fittings. I'll need to recreate a section of with -6 hose.

Also, Fluid Film is some pretty awesome stuff. Gave the underside of the car a good dosing.

I know my exhaust is a mess I'm looking at options right now. That heat shield has seen better days.

Nice. If you can, get a shielded (braided) hose for the section that you have to replace, to protect it from being torn/punctured/ weathered etc.

And someday you'll be able to drive it again. :p
I remember doing all that to my old 92. It was so awesome to drive it afterwards.

You're way down in the southern part. I live up by Cumberland, on the Mass side.

Took a small pause cause I had to get some work done on my Subaru.

Started working my way up the sides only to discover my rockers had been quietly rotting away. The passenger side has holes I can put my hand through. Drivers side is not as bad.

Also discovered my brake lines were almost completely rotted through. I started cleaning rust off them with a green scrubby pad and one of them started leaking. Ordered somr NiCop lines, fittings, and a flaring tool. Try to get it done next week.

Other than that it was in pretty good shape.

And now finally back to the damn reason all of this started. The fuel pump.

Maybe im being a bit too cautious, but I decided to go with 10awg gxl wire. These Supra TT pumps can draw up to 20 amps and I felt like the stock wiring was bare minimum for something like that. I don't know if its 12 or 14 gauge, but I didnt want to take any chances.

I had to make some small modifications to the fuel hat since I had to run a new power lead through it.

Dont judge me on my bullet connectors, its all I had on hand. I ordered some Deutsch connectors that can handle 10awg.

I used what's called a wire gland end. I seems to be made from PA66 gf30, aka nylon glass fibre reinforced, ip68 rated. It should handle the gasoline, but just to be sure I have an extra one soaking in gasoline externally from the car.

So it goes from the battery 10awg - 25 amp fuse - 40 amp relay 10awg to the pump. Using stock fuel pump wiring as the trigger for the relay.

Do you have a part number?

Thanks.
Searched for the part number # 89545-48020 and at Toyota it is very expensive. So problably this Ebay item is coming from Ali in China.
My experience with Ali parts are sometimes good and sometimes not.
Ordered some antenna masts from ali, but the plastic piece was a few mm too thin, resulting in a non functional in- and extracting antenna.
Then an Ali rearlight switch (on top of the gearbox). The switch did fit, but was slightly smaller, resulting in an always activated back light. Tweaking the switch tackeled the job.

But, since you tell us this ABS part is working fine, no problems to be expected. Thanks for your info.

Hey Magroo,

Good to see another alltrac, especially with similar setup and MSPNP2 93-95! Keep at it, to see that you're "almost done" is inspiring!
