I thought I would document the rebuild progress and what I learn along the way with my 92'. Some parts and areas of the car are really clean and in great shape, others not so much...

Just another front end picture. Starting to take off the air-water intercooler and then the main radiator after that. hoping to be able to pull the engine next week.

Looks promising, what's the reason for the teardown?

Someone dragged the left rocker on a curb and it’s blown out, and the right rear quarter/rocker has rust. So that’s easier to deal with as a roller. The engine wiring is a mess, someone hacked in some third party control systems with tape splices and mechanics wire. Plus I just want to know there is no other rust issues and I can replace anything that is worn out and re-lay back in the wiring and parts after a good cleaning and paint/powdercoat where needed. Needs a full mechanical tear down after as well.

I'd love to be able to tear the body of mine that far down someday. Keep us posted on how it goes :)

Oh hey underscore, your build is one of my tabbed builds that I follow and a big inspiration for getting started on cleaning mine up. Im surprised will all the items you have fixe it it didn't end up in a more complete tear down. your car looks great btw!

Thanks! Good to know all my ramblings have been of use to somebody. I've had all the mechanicals torn down but I've never fully torn down the bodywork or interior. With the car off the road for a while I'm hoping to bang out a few of the more urgent things I need to do and then dig into a few parts of the body and interior.

A little more progress this week, engine and front end is out. back end is next. then some major degreasing before the clean car can come back into the garage for re-assembly after all the drivetrain gets refurbished.
