Well, yes. I would love one of those. $294. LOL

I didn't look too closely at the listing. Did they say "I know what I have?" That seems obligatory for that kind of price point.

I figure if I don't like the TRD knob, someone will want it and won't ask me to drop the price too much just for touching it.

I can't imagine spending $300 on a shift knob

Surprisingly, the Cosmo Racing assembly came in today. Going to "throw" it in tomorrow.

Side note: the Feal coilovers are coming in on Monday. Huzzah!! :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

Agreed! But...I spent $500 on a steering wheel. So, I couldn't argue the point if someone did.

Oh, shit...It begins! Big doings are afoot this summer--at least five alltrac-ers got in on the group buy.

It was four, I bought two sets for two of my vehicles.

And I'm glad I bought my TRD shift knob years ago. $300 is a bit steep! I doubt that model will ever get re-released since it is "only" a five speed pattern on top.

I suspected I might have been wrong. I remember now. In any case, I make five that have these. We'll be able to swap advice about how to set them up. I've still got mine set at center as they come from Feal--I'll be interested to read how others set theirs up.

How did the install go on that short shiter Tippo? How's it feel?

Haven't installed yet - life gets in the way as usual  If the weather holds out, install will happen this weekend.

I'm stoked 5 of us have the coilovers now, so we can run by options with each other!

Another note, I replaced the plugs recently and noticed oil on the threads, so I purchased a 4th gen valve cover gasket from TwosRUs.

During that time I'll be painting the valve cover... trying to figure out what color it should be.

Small victories. Replaced the sun kissed steering wheel with a better condition one. I could have gone the aftermarket route but call me old fashioned - I like the All-Trac symbol :)

So the gaskets and the parts for the valve cover came in. Just waiting to get a gen 4 3sgte PCV then I can take off the valve cover, paint it, then install the gasket and so on. I'm thinking painting the valve cover aquamarine pearl like my SW20. The color is sort of like this.

As for the Cosmo Racing shifter, I had a bit of a chat with the mechanic that runs the site. It appears the secondary guide ball or "weight" as the mechanic put it is not in the same spot. I ended up installing the shifter but noticed more "slop" than the stocker. I firmly believe they gave me a 1990-1991 ST185 short throw shifter rather than a 1992-1993. I spoke to Paul (owner? mechanic?) at Cosmo and Paul stated that MY shifter was incorrect? Very strange back and fourth we had, but you decide:

Stock on the right, Cosmo on the left:

Closer up:

Lower guide ball for the smooth shifting can be seen clearly here and the next photo toward the lower arm:

At the end of the day the stock shifter is staying in for now. I'm not having any problems with it, but would have liked to use the Cosmo. After install of the Cosmo, it was audibly messy and felt very sloppy in comparison because of the missing lower guide ball. Paul was convinced this was a "counter weight" but clearly it's being used for slop dampening.

It's been a while but life has been crazy. I've been using Lazarus as a daily for a little bit since the gen4 runs just so damn clean. However, 274k miles later, rubber is starting to go. My rear diff mount bushing gave out. Just a cool $275 from Toyota later and I have a project on my hands. Since this is a long weekend - I'll be most likely doing this and the suspension. Lots of rattles in the front end now, which is of no surprise.

Here's what I'm dealing with:

AL9nZEXDJ1p72YERiPOGDQtEelWjmFDVKxlV2SwpDIg4n6GE8GF0jGaoNJz2D6SpjiLlonC7g_KdXb7rCeZXwh4t1o2RqxIpNbJ4eMtKqQW1w8V0bmd0KLIGtuunMKR9EujL-xk3LbDVL0h6zCp68jCVLoomvg=w1016-h765-no

and the new part # just in case anybody needs it:

So during the long weekend, we had a total of one cool enough day to start work on Lazarus. I figured while the diff mount cushion is getting installed, might as well install the Feal coilovers in the rear as well. Next weekend / later this week will be the front end and setting the suspension.
Here's what we got so far:

Diff cushion out:

Not pretty

Diff mount cushion in, I must say - what a PITA:

As I mentioned, just got to set the suspension where I want it then go from there. Works getting done finally for the track day on sept 29th and hopefully paint in time for the Bear Mountain meet unless I take Mirum.

First, it's amazing how expensive parts have become. But--it looks like it was really needful.

Second, I bet you're happy to get the Feals all the way in. What do you think of them? I could tell the difference right away. I'm running mine two clicks toward soft.

I didn't get a weight measurement on the rears. I know what I dropped weight wise on the fronts: 15lbs.

Just finished up the install, but they're definitely lighter. Haven't gotten around to driving around yet, because as I am replacing the coilovers, I also replaced a lot of rubber bushings. Few more to go, then I'll give it a whirl. I also have to adjust the fronts a bit lower since they're a little too high.

So I'm not going to take the car for a spin just yet. I'm looking to see if anyone happens to know where we can source the rear sway bar bushings. I ended up purchasing front sway bar bushings, doing all wear items in the front end as well. Might as well, everything was off anyways! Aside from that, the part number is 48818-20250.

Ok so I ended up dropping the fronts a little more and the rear I left the same. Also I purchased 1.5" rear spacers and put the 1" spacers on the front. The fitment with these 30 offset rims actually worked out really well with the Feal coilovers being dialed in. The only issue is the spacers are 1.25 instead of 1.5 thread pitch, so I had to improvise with some old lug nuts I had laying around. I'll get that squared away when the car is back from the meet. This coming Thursday is the New York Saftey Track meet where the car is going on the track! Anyways, here's some pictures for the near-final result of the coilovers and spacers:

I think the only way to get sway bar bushings is to have them made in poly. Since the 185 came in a variety of rear sizes, you'll need to measure your rear sway bar.

BRD is an option for bushings.

Good idea. I suppose measuring the outside and inside is the way to go since these things are pretty much impossible to find. I hope the old ones hold up on the track tomorrow. After an alignment, Lazarus is on the trailer and ready for the track... well as ready as ever. We'll see how it performs, then go from there.

Track day completed. Car held up pretty good, the Feal coilovers were PERFECT! Some overheating issues, break booster blew off at one point, definitely running lean but overall a blast. Enjoy the pictures and more work to come.

Brake booster vacuum line replaced. Ordered 2x smaller 6" SPAL fans and an additional 12" as a backup. May put one on the TMIC for now, but I have another track day lined up for 10/9 at the NY Safety Track again. Pushing my luck but I really want to track this car more!
