If you can still get them new from a dealer, I'd do that if I were you. . I had to replace mine as well as the driven gear and key due to that cable adapter binding up. If you replace with used, I'd at least tear it apart to inspect and clean/grease everything before use.

This is a pic of my key with the keyed portion sheared off, which probably caused the driven gear to break simultaneously.

. . all because the thrust bearings separated from the race in the adapter.

Thanks for the pix, and yup that's exactly what happened here. I have read another instance on the st162 forums of the same issue.

Found the part number for an alltrac listed as 83770-17010 but that part is discontinued.

Found that the mr2 part number is 83770-17020 and the online sites still had it available, I ordered it and hopfully it is available as it looks like it will work as a replacement.

That's great! When I ordered mine "83770-17010" (I think), I recall them telling me it was the last one in inventory so it's good to hear there's another potential option. Hopefully it's still available.

I recieved 83770-17020 yesterday not sure how many are left.

It is different but looks like it will work. Looks like it positions the output a little more straight up. Both outputs are leaned back the same.

Looks like the lean back is the same and that there is a rough difference of round 10 degrees on the re-clocking.
