I did not, just used a light coat of self etching black.

Cleaned and painted the trans as well. Engine bay done. Lots of parts out getting powdercoated along with fully built motor.

I bought mine through http://www.car-part.com/mobile/index.htm
Look for an 86-89 Celica gts with a 3sgelc. I paid around $100 shipped.
Make sure to mention the tvis plate so they can confirm it at whatever wrecker yard you contact.
