ok well to be perfectly honest i totally forgot about this post after being lazy about going out to my car and doing it. i WILL measure the lengths of the oil lines tomarrow. i still dont see that much interest in this mod for the st165 guys. is the st185 engine swap that much better to go with and are we (st165 ppl) wasting our time?

We would ALL benefit from this mod.
Think about how many of us are runing hybrid motor/turbo set-ups...1G/2G/3G 3SGTE, single/twin entry CT26, Supra CT26, CT20B - in any one of those block/head/turbo combinations. In any one of those combinations - except for factory, they all require some kind of modification to the oil lines/pipes.
Personally I dont like having to bend the factory pipes cause it kinks and weakens the walls of the tube, not to mention, effecting oil pressure.
If there was a universal oil line kit for the 3S/CT2x, I would be all over it.

while running braided lines is an easy way to get around having to fit lines, NOTHING beats using hard lines. I see braided lines as a good choice for guys running hybrid setups, but if there's any way of doing hard lines at all, then i would do that.

anyway. cool idea, and good save from a lot of hassle.

Ya, I forgot about this too...

My feed line is about 18" from the block to the turbo. There is just enough slack in it. A couple inches longer wouldn't be a problem.

Both my cars that have t3/t4's have the banjo adapter on the block side... I can't remember where I got them from or what size.. maybe someone can chime in on that.

Ok i just went out and measured my lines. This is on a st165 with the twin entry conversion (ct26) just to make things clear.

- the RETURN was measured at 13.5" from the flange on the turbo up to the 90 degree elbow going into the pan. (that measurement doesnt include the length of the elbow, but on my return line i had to convert the end from -10an to -12an so the length includes that adapter)

- the FEED line was measured at 5.5" from the flange on the turbo up to the 90 degree elbow going into the KOracing feed adapter made for the st165. I noticed that i could possibly make that line a bit shorter, when i swap on my ct27 i will prob make it 5.0"-5.25" instead just so there is slightly less of an arch in the line.

*on a st185 id imagine the feed line would be an inch or two longer b/c the fitting is directly mounted on the block and not mounted on the oil cooler like the st165.

note: i measured the lines while on the car but this pic was before they were installed. i had the lines made by Aaron at rabidchimp.com and initially i gave him meaurements that were too long so i had to buy a couple ends and an adapter from summitracing to make it work. it wasnt Aarons fault and the lines were great quality and still look like the day i put them on.

just a few other pics:

I was wondering if you could shed some more light on the fittings for us.
What sizes are the fittings, part numbers if you have them?
Also I went to KO's website but dont see the one for the 165 oil feed fitting, did you have to send in your old fitting and have them modify it?

Anyone know where I can find the oil feed/return flange on the turbo (ct26)?

I just did some measuring and here is what I found regarding the thread and pitch of the banjo bolts and bung fittings:

Gen 3 3SGTE oil banjo bolt thread uses an M12 x 1.25 metric pitch to -3 AN male-to-male adapter
Gen 2 3SGTE oil banjo bolt thread uses an M18 x 1.50 metric pitch to -3 AN male-to-male adapter
Gen 1/2 3SGTE oil pan oil return bung thread uses an M28 x 1.5 metric pitch to -12 AN male-to-male adapter

well i believe that i have the only fitting made for the st165 or atleast i was the only one as of 5 months ago. KOracing said that they were only going to offer it in the SB kit for the 1st gen so i dont know. maybe if you email them you can work something out. as far as the lines themselves i got mine made from aaron at rabidchimp.com and they came WITH the flange for the ct26 which was machined and tapped already for like around $65 if i remember correctly, maybe even cheaper. unforunatly he only makes the return line in -10an so thats why i had to convert it to -12an b/c i used the KOracing oil pan adapter.

-if i were to do it again now i would go back to rabidchimp.com and ask him to make the feed line 5.5" (total length) and leave the side that goes to the block without an end so i can use that -3an 90 degree elbow without having to cut an existing end off b/c if you have ever messed with cutting these type of lines you know it can sometimes be a pain in the ass. *now remember i am not trying to promote rabidchimp.com in any way, im just trying to explain where i got my lines and where i would go get my lines if i were to do it again. i tried pricing all the fitting and lines separatly on summit racing and it was over $170 and those were just for the materials.

-as far as the return line goes i would prob have to do it the same way i did already not unless someone makes a oil pan return fitting in a -10an size, that way you dont have to buy the extra fitting to convert it to -12an. i could go get the measurement up to the fitting so if people wanted to go about doing it that way they can.

Kool thanks for the info.
I checked out rabidchimp's website and they offer the lines for $130. Like you, I also tried to duplicate the lines on Summit and came with the same price that rabidchimp sells their kit for - but I am still missing the oil flange and I have to put it together myself, so their price is very competitive.
You mentioned it comes with -10 AN line instead of the -12 AN fitting the KO adapter comes with. Thats no big deal Russel, Earls, Summit and Aeroquip offers female -12 AN to male -10 AN reducer's to make it work. Cheaper than buying the -12 AN 90* elbow and having to cut the line.
They are an inexpensive kit, along with the reducer fitting, a weld on male -3 AN fitting (for the ST165 banjo bolt) and the KO oil pan adapter a complete kit should cost under $200.

I have found all the fittings and adapters to make my own kit with the exception of the oil return adapter - that I will have to get from KO, but I am working on finding another source. Ironically when I was measuring and sourcing the fittings and adapters I would need, it dawn'd on me that the oil feed and oil return are completely different on the GEN3 - I wonder how KO solved this problem seeing how their SB kits for the GEN3 supposedly comes with the KO adapters, hmmmm.
At any rate my kits are almost complete.
I am getting custom turbo oil flanges made up for the CT2x as well as return flanges for the GEN3 3SGTE oil pan. I've looked everywhere and no-one sells them seperately - like its some proprietary part or something, and only offer it as part of their own "kit" - that really pisses me off.
Dont worry I will sell them seperatly for those of you who wish to make your own lines.
I'll have kits for GEN1, 2 and 3 3SGTE's in any block/head/turbo configuration. Just specify what configuration you have and I'll make the kit accordingly. They will be expensive however - about $100 more than the rabidchimp kit with adapters. I use only the best materials - all kits are going to use high quality Earl fittings and hoses.
The first one Im going to make will be for my own car, this will allow me to test and research the final product before offering it others. It will be for a GEN2 3SGTE block with a GEN3 3SGTE head and a CT20B. I'll get pics up as soon as I finsh peicing it together.

Thought I'd share the specs of what parts I'll be using in my kit. This application is for the Gen 2 3SGTE block.

-4 AN Turbo Oil Feed Line:

-EAR-320104ERL Fitting, Hose End, Straight, -4 AN, 1/8 NPT, Aluminum, Red/Blue Anodized
-EAR-309104ERL Fitting, Hose End, Auto-Fit, 90 Degree, -4 AN Hose to Female -4 AN, Aluminum, Red/Blue Anodized
-EAR-350304ERL Hose, Pro-Lite 350, Braided Nylon, -4 AN, 3 ft. Length

I chose NOT to go with KO's oil feed adapter, instead I am using JP Autoworks oil feed adapter. It comes in a -4 AN fitting unlike the KO -3 AN fitting. I also chose to go with -4 AN line instead of the -3 AN line because the Pro-Lite 350 hoses only go as small as -4 AN - among other reasons...

-12 AN Turbo Oil Return Line:

-EAR-809112ERL Fitting, Hose End, Swivel Seal, 90 Degree, -12 AN Hose to Female -12 AN, Aluminum, Red/Blue anodized
-EAR-820112ERL Fitting, Hose End, Swivel Seal, Straight, -12 AN Hose to Male 3/4 in. NPT, Aluminum, Red/Blue anodized
-EAR-350312ERL Hose, Pro-Lite 350, Braided Nylon, -12 AN, 3 ft. Length

I WILL still have to use KO's oil return adapter though as I cant find anyone else that carries the fitting in a -12 AN.

Alternatively if you wanted to use both of KO's adapters the parts list would look something like this.

-3 AN Oil Feed Line:

-NOS-17955NOS Fitting, Straight, -3 AN Male to 1/4 in. NPT Male, Aluminum, Blue anodized
-EAR-600103ERL Fitting, Hose End, Speed-Seal, Straight, -3 AN Hose to Female -3 AN, Steel, Zinc Plated
-EAR-609233ERL Fitting, Hose End, 90 Degree, -3 AN, Speed-Seal, Aluminum, Red/Blue anodized
-EAR-303003ERL Hose, Auto-Flex, Braided Stainless Steel, -3 AN, 3 ft. Length

Some other food for thought - if you are looking for a replacememnt banjo bolt for the GEN 3 3SGTE again Earl's Performance Plumbing has this one:

-EAR-997591ERL Banjo bolt, 12mm x 1.25, Aluminum, Blue anodized

If you are purchasing the Rabidchimp oil line kit and need the reducer/adapter for the KO oil return fitting this is the part:

AER-FBM2422 Fitting, Flare Reducer, Female -12 AN to Male -10 AN, Steel

If you are purchasing the Rabidchimp oil line kit and need the -10 AN oil return fitting this is the part:

http://www.jpautoworks.com/toyota_mr2.htm

Additionaly they also sell a -4 AN oil feed adapter for the gen 2 3SGTE block.

Im still looking into what it it will take to make a oil feed fitting for the Gen 1 3SGTE block but I should have a solution in a couple of days.

Im still waiting on the turbo oil flanges to be made, my machinist is making me a sample piece now. However you could use your stock turbo oil flange...requires you to cut the existing line off and tap the holes to the correct thread of the fittings that you use for oil feed/return.

wow good work. its nice to see someone take some initiative and create a parts list and everything especially for our community which we all know sometimes doesnt have many options if any at all.

here was my parts list from summit:

AER-FBM1120 (90 Degree, -3AN Hose to female -3AN $9.88 )
EAR-800110ERL (Swivel Seal, Straight, -10AN Hose to Female -10AN $10.25)
EAR-935112ERL (Coupler, 90 Degree, Female -12AN to Female -12AN $20.75)
EAR-991920ERL (Union Reducer, Male -12AN to Male -10AN $10.95)

Hey guys after further discussion with some of my peers it was concluded that a -4 AN line and a 1/8 NPT is better suited than a -6 AN line with a 1/4 NPT.
That being said I edited my above post to include the -4 AN line with a 1/8 NPT fitting.
Not only will it provide better oil pressure but it makes the whole kit alot cheaper with less parts.
Also I included a -10 AN oil return adapter I found that would work with Rabidchimps oil line kit without having to buy an adapter for the KO -12 oil return fitting. As well as a -4 AN oil feed adapter instead of a -3 AN fitting. The -10 AN oil return adapter and -4 AN oil feed adapter is sold by JPAutoworks.com

Ok as promized i got yall pics of my set up.

pict0956aq4.jpg

pict0957ki5.jpg

pict0958am9.jpg

So i got a few differnt things im trying.
In the pics we got are ALL AIRCRAFT QUALITY hose and fittings. Some are actually US militiary spec. So pretty much u can lift your engine out by the hose if u wanted to lol.

In there the BLUE hose is actually an Aircraft grade air condition hose capable of withstanding 400 degrees either way. and i think aroun 600 psi.

The steel braided hoses are withstand 30,000 psi. no joke. tempature is really of no concernt.

I could possibly be making kits once i get my lines sorted out so id like to gather some intrest and we will see from there. All the fittings hoses etc i get locally. no need for KO racing adapters i can get them here for cheaper and built to an higher spec. These hoses are much higher quality and built much better than any other product ive seen before.

Ill get more information once its complete. Eventually i might offer 5axis laser cut flanges, all the fittings, and hose made to your specs.

once mine is done i will get back a approximate price and neccessary hardware.

cheers
