Hybrid CT26....

I know that the ATS modded a ct26 and hit 300HP with it,My question is Do you guys think the CT26 with Garrett T04E compresor housing 60 trim turbine can do any better? I'm dealing with some guy that can do this for me but I dont know if its even worth it.he even told me that he can fit a T61 or T70 housing if I wanted to. can it hit 400HP?

The exhaust housing itself is the limiting factor on a stock ct26, no matter what compressor wheel or turbine wheel you put in the factory exhaust housing can't flow more than 275whp unless it is modified. A 1st gen ct26 canuse the supra exhaust housing and be taken further, at the expense of more lag.

okay, that makes sence. No wonder even the T04 that has smaller compressor housing can out flow the ct26
because its has a bigger turbine housing.

Im pretty sure im going to hit more than 300 to the ground with my ct26. Im porting the exaust manifold and the exaust housing out like a bastard. It looks way bigger now that the twin entry ports have been gasket matched and smoothed to a shine. My goal is to show that a ct26 can make the power that nobody thinks it can. Also im going to try to do it with a top mount ic. I see these mitsu. turbos making gobs of power and i look at the ct26 which is way bigger in every way and i see no reason that it cant make decent power.

I may beat you to it - I have my engine and tranny out for the new clutch - it should be in and I should be hitting the dyno nexty week or the week after at the latest.

Dammit, mine wont be done for a while. right now i have to go to toyota and get the shimmless buckets for my head. thats all im waiting on really, besides putting the engine in the car and tuning it. So im sure you will beat me too it, besides i dont have an awd dyno around here. What do you have done, especially to your ct26 and intercooler set up.

I have a large custom FMIC. My CT26 is the Turbonetics stage 2 jobby - 58trim compressor with a slight clip on the turbine. And all the other normal stuff, AEm EMS with full MAF removal, HKS 264s, cam gears, built bottom end, HKS valve springs and single peice shims, Supra 550cc injectors, supra fuel pump, Aussie DP & catless MP with the HKS HIPER muffler. The wastegate is shimmed out and I'm running about 24PSI.

I would have been dynoed by now, but I was running a clutchnet 6 puck with a toysport pressure plate and the pressure plate turned out to be too weak to hold, so I got an RPS 6puck with 520 ft lb. pressure plate. I figure that should hold :D

Wow 24 psi. I dont think i will run that much. Im thinking 18psi for me. My turbo was upgraded by turbonetics also. Dont remember what stage but it was the highest they could go. Since you have a front mount, then i will be the guy to make the most power for having a ct26 and a topmount ic. Are you running the tvis? Mine is removed, and also the bar that separates the two ports on the tvis plate has been ported out, like gone! What have you done, as far as porting the exaust manifold and turbo exaust side? We seem to have similar mods do you think i could get your map from you so I can safely start my car on my fresh engine?

I haven't ported intake or exhaust and TVIS is still in place. I like the offboost driveability :)

As for my map. I don't share it with anyone intending to run it. The AEM basemap will start the engine no prob. One of the reasons for this is I have a 5 bar MAP sensor which means the scaling will be off for you. I also have a GM IAT sensor.

For what its worth, I was intending to try sticking with the TMIC, but it turns out that the Intake temps were getting way too high with the top mount over like 18/19 PSI. So I switched and now the temps are back down in the 120s for the most part which makes the engine happy.

The upgraded ct26s can make plenty of power. It's really not that at all. The problem is durability. My hat is off to anyone that gets any kind of longevity out of a rebuilt/upgraded CT26 at 18-24 PSI.

Thats what I'm saying!

What do they have small thrust bearings like the td06? The td06 have very small thrust bearings as compared to garrrett and many of the T3 and or T4 centers have the 360 degree thrust bearings. Big boost and lots of airflow = lots of side loading or thrust loading due to the way the impellars are curved.

I have the 5 bar map sensor as well as the intake temp sensor. I just want to be able to start my car. I will change the map for sure. We have Jason siebols help us with our maps. He works at AEM, i think i spelled his last name wrong but if you know who he is then you understand what im saying. I wont give it to anyone else, I just want to start my car with it. I dont want to wash the rings.

My ct26 has been going strong at 18psi for a while, by the way.

What is "for a while"? :) Not trying to be cute/smart-ass, genuinely interested, I've run a 60-1 before, don't know if I want to again or go with something like a TD06sh, but any experience is useful to file away.

2 years, I had it checked when my engine was going out.(do to pour workmanship, from the guys who rebuilt it). But the turbo was perfectly fine. im just waiting to put it back on, as soon as my engine is done.

If Jason is working on your map you have nothing to worry about. The main thing you have to look out for is that your wiring is correct and that your fuel pump is set properly. (I think its the LT1 output - something like that anyways)

I dont see why you wouldnt help out a fellow alltrac owner. I need the map to start my car. Jason will work on it from there. We log the idle and some drives and he then modifies it. I need something to start from and i know the base map would be shit compared to a map that you are driving around on. I just want to keep this engine in perfect condition. Help a brother out :smokes:
