I dont believe there is enough space to do so...

Eric has an ST185 swap and I think he still uses a stock 165 WTA IC...

Defiantly possible.

It will drop your charge temps considerably over the stock WTA IC. My understanding is this will allow you to run more boost if you want, or *should* increase HP on stock boost since the temps will be much better.

FMIC also LESS susceptible to heat soak because it's farther away from the engine temps and in the direct flow of incoming air.

Some guys with ST165 I'm sure can chime in with what setups they are running and what size IC's fit the stock bumper.

or u can just relocate ur battery and place a real nice 2.5"/2.5" WTA core and use a larger heat exchanger like a radiator off a late 90's vw with a 10-12" electric fan and the constant run mod on the ic...... do some research a well done WTA is best for cooling the charge and it cools from the get-go but ATA is lighter, less complicated, and looks better to most.

Heres a possibility/idea,

Use an escort cosworth frontmount, has a charge cooler built into air to air cooler. Run current charge cooler water lines to it and have best of both. Intercooler is small also and supports approx 400bhp. Im running a sierra cosworth a2a one in my 185 now difference on mine was awesome.

By room, i think he may have meant airflow to the FMIC.

In any case, War Towels, i think you meant the fmic is less susceptible to heat soak

I'd say go for an FMIC if you can, however, i don't think there's really many bumpers out there (except maybe what Mafix used) to open enough clearance for good air flow to the FMIC.

I am using a ST185 RC vent in my ST165 with a ST185RC W:A Intercooler,
gonna use a large heat exchanger & build a duct hooked into the front grill to directly route the air through the Heat exchanger. Might use a small fan but I don't think it will be necessary in combonation with dual stage water injection.

Yes, I meant FMIC's are less susceptible to heat soak.

Edited my above post.

Would the FMIC increase the turbo lag, and increase the pressure drop from the TM WTA IC?
