ST165 with a Megasquirt PNP for 185?

I'm trying to figure out if there is really any difference in the 165 electronics vs the 185 that would cause me issues in MS. I know the harness will need to be converted at the ECU end, but other than that is there any reason after making the connection it(or any other standalone) would have issues with my 165 electronics?

After digging around some more I found where people have ran a gen2 engine on a gen1 ECU(viewtopic.php?f=9&t=40952 and of course the sticky here in EFI corner), so I'ma go out on a limb and say that a gen1 engine will run on a gen2 ECU. So in that case, the MS PNP for a gen2 should run my gen1 after I change my harness to fit a gen2 ECU. That makes me happy.
