The ST185 wheel size thread (offsets, widths, etc)

+42 mm offset might fit, but you have to look at the size of the tires you are using too.

heres a picture of the rear wheel using 17" x 7" wheel with +40mm offset with 215mm wheels.

looks like theres some space left, but when i tried another wheel 17x7 et 42mm with 225mm tires. it didn't fit (damn should of took a picture of that)
so i think +42mm might work if you have 215mm tires.

Anyone look into these?

17x8.5 35et 5x100. SSR.

I posted them a while ago in another thread. I might look at a set myself if I ever get new wheels.

Any idea what these wheels are? I have always thought these were some of the best looking wheels on a gtfour.

They look like the perfect width/et

Ok, lets see.

17x9 between 28 to 30 offset in front is perfect. That is a 17x7 rim and with 2 inches less that will mean that you could technically push that wheel farther in and choose a higher offset. I believe the offset is measured in Millimeters. (Anyone correct me if I"m wrong on that) So if 30 is perfect with a wheel width of 9 inches. Converting the 9 inches into Metric gives you 228.6 mm and your 7 inch rim is 177.79. The difference is 50.8. But remember that everything is from the center of the rim so you really gain about 25.4 of clearance on either side. What this means is while a 30 offset is perfect for a 9 inch rim. A 7 inch rim will no longer be flush with the fender but rather be 25.4 mm inwards from the fender. So now your choice was a 40 offset rim. This will now put the wheel at 35.4 mm farther inward from the fender. You will have 15.4 mm of space to spare from where a 9 inch rim would be with a 30 offset from the suspension components. This will effect the looks of the wheel as it will be farther inward inside the fender and not be flush. Using a 15 offset will push the wheel back towards the fender and will be 10.4 mm from being flush with the fender. You will also be 40.4 mm farther away from where a 9 inch wheel would sit giving you more space between the wheel and the suspension components.

You can play with the numbers as well and see what works for you. Let me know if you have any questions and by all means anyone who would like to look over my math, please do!

Hope that helps.

Hey everyone! I'm new here but I guess I have a good one for you:

will a set of stock celica st183 (gt 1990) rims fit on my JDM gt-four (st185) 1991???

I don't exactly know the offset, but I know that they are 14" and maybe 5" wide.

BTW: I run 16" SSR GT01 (16"x7" + 38 )...just for fun :p

If they don't, I'll have to go through the winter on 205/50/16 winter tires ...

EDIT:
Celica003incognito.JPG

What kind of rims are these??? Gotta love'em even though it looks a bit like VW trend rims...

2nd EDIT:

Found the name of the rims:

Artec rims, RB model 8)

I am thinking of doing 17x8 46 offet MB weapon wheels. What do you guys think? I am also thinking 225-40-17 tires. I was also thinking of doing 17x9 for the rears but I don't know if it will work with the bolt pattern. These are the sizes they are available:

17X7 5-100 48GM $132.00

17X7 5-100 48BR $132.00

17X7 5-114.3 43BR $132.00

17X7 5-114.3 43GM $132.00

17X8 5-100 46GM $136.00

17X8 5-100 46BR $136.00

17X8 5-114.3 28BR $136.00

17X8 5-114.3 42BR $136.00

17X8 5-114.3 42GM $136.00

17X8 5-114.3 28GM $136.00

17X9 5-114.3 27GM $140.00

17X9 5-114.3 27BR $140.00

17X9 5-114.3 17BR $140.00

17X9 5-114.3 17GM $140.00

I made a wheel offset calculator for our cars in Excel. It's called the ST185 Wheel Offset Calculator. You can download it here: http://webpages.charter.net/toxygene/

The only things I am still missing information on is at which point you would need to roll the fenders. That would be hard to define though as that is determined more by tire size than wheel width. You can PM if you have any questions on how to use it.

I have these on my WRX, and the 46 offset is too high to use on the Celica. GO with something closer to 30-35 for an 8 inch wheel.
I chose the Flik FTD 17x8 with 225-45-17. They have a 35 offset. I am currently running them with a 1" spacer, and i had to roll the rear, and it still rubs on large bumps....Im still "massaging" it.
I think that if i had gone with some 215-40-17 there would have been no issues with rubbing.....
