Well, I have calmed down a bit and gotten my priorities straightened out a bit. Once I get the next few things for the car, I will not be putting a whole lot of $$ in it for a bit, unless I am banking again that is.

BBK will go on the back burner as will a new clutch/ flywheel and lower final drive.
If anything, I might look into rear alignment bolts and braided brake lines mostly for safety.

The way I see it now, I can put $1000 bucks into making a car i will not be driving too much brake better, or I can save that money to invest in my next business project and maybe have much more $$ to invest in the near future.

Anyhow. I am using the rest of this post to post pics of some of my inspiration that keeps me going. Don't be offended if you don't see your pic.
These are just the ones I have been looking at lately to keep my spirits high.

From my bathroom next to my office. I looked out the window and liked the angle of how the wheels fit. I wish I could have gotten the full car from there.

So I was thinking. I do not think I can sell this car. My wife does not want me to sell it, because she knows I am loosing $$.

I was doing the math, if I had sold this car for 8k, the person who bought it would get a hell of a deal.

4k+ in engine stuff.
2k+ in suspension
1k in misc.

So its like they are only paying 1k for the alltrac part. Seriously. The amount of time and energy I put into this car, I am just to damn cheap to let it go for nothing.

I do need to put a lot of things on the back burner with the car though.
I am scrapping my BBK project. I just have more important things I have to do with the money. I am going to keep the 205 calipers for a while in case thing change down the road, but I think the car will be fine with its current setup and maybe adding some steel braided lines.

I think I really need to do the clutch and maybe replace the 1st gear syncro.

Every now and then I can't put it in to 1st or reverse and I have to let the clutch half way out to engage. So, I would use this time to replace the syncro, replace the lower final drive and get an upgraded clutch. With my taller tires and my RC FD I have around a 3.581 final drive. I think its really hurting the acceleration.

I did some math on this other page to show how the final drive affect the car. If I change my final drive, my ratio will be a hair lower than a stock 205. So the car should be a lot more fun. Once i put my old wheels on when I paint the car, I will do some comparisons.

I need to pick out a good clutch. I only want to do this once, even if it costs me slightly more money.

I ordered my O2 sensor today. I talked to the 3rd gen specialists at Hux racing this morning. I went with Bosch part # 15728. Its a Planar Type 4-wire zirconia sensor with a toyota bracket. 50 bucks shipped from amazon. $25 less than buying it local.

Nice project and smart move realizing it needed to hit a back burner. A car can wait, but life waits for no one.

Nice work.

I put in the new oxygen sensor. The car is much quieter now, and it is also more drivable. Before I had to stay in lower gears to accelerate. I have not been able to compare fuel economy yet. I hope this does the trick.

I think I might need to do something about my suspension. Its a bit too stiff for the road here. I am going to see if Tein can resolve it by making me some softer springs. That way I just can change out the stiffer springs for race events.

I was going to work on this brake project, but I am going to wait till Klue tests them out so I do not get too obsessed with the car.

I think I might replace my vac lines with some new ones just to avoid any issues with their age. I still think I might have a minute vacuum leak somewhere.

Once I get the stitches out of my arm, then I can redo my front axle, and then I should be ready for paint. I am not going to try and rush things.

I was looking at their site, and I can have the suspension custom revalved to my specs. It would cost $420 + shipping to do so though. I am not sure the struts are the issue though. They seem to be fairly adjustable. I just think my springs are too stiff for the road.

Here is a shock dyno of the suspension.

I started getting myself tied up in other projects again. Thankfully some others are helping look into BBK options. I do not think it would be a good idea for me to buy one at this time. I think i need to focus my funds on restoring my car and making the car 100% before I invest money and time into other projects.

Right now, I am making sure my ignition system is 100%. I am going to get new wires and runs some tests on the ignitor and make sure its grounded enough. If it does not rain this coming weekend, I am going to change out my axle after I get my stitches out.

Stupid clutch pedal adjustment fork. Its like the bolt is welded to the for. I can't get the damn thing to move. I took the fork off the pedal. There is hardly any room under there to do anything.

I am trying to stay off here some, cause I am trying to get ahead on everything w/o going insane.

• 1st mission is to get stuff sold. I am trying to get stuff sold to pay for my current stuff. I got some 205 front calipers. I am going to sit on them for a while, but I will be making a 205 brake setup down the road. Just slowly gathering parts.

• 2nd mission is to get the car running 100%. I got the O2 taken care of. Next, I need to figure out if running rich for 500 miles fouled my new plugs. Any suggestions on how to check?

I am looking into a vac line replacement kit. I am possibly going to replace every old line to make sure there is no old cracked hoses.

I am ordering new plug wires, and trying to make sure my clutch pedal gets adjusted, thought I am having little luck getting that damn nut loose.

• Then comes the axle.
I can worry about paint, and AC after that.

I found a source for my plug wires now. I will buy them tomorrow after I get paid for selling some stuff.

To keep my project simple I bought another st205 core that was still stock looking. I don't want to bother repainting the one I have. I just have to simplify everything now. When the new one gets here, as long as shipping takes care of it, I will sell my old one.

I am going to do one last slew of things to the engine bay in one long day, then hopefully the engine will be done.

I called Tein today. They said they can sell me softer springs for my car. I think i am going to order a set, then going for one nice run on the Dragon before I switch them over. I will be keeping the old springs for if I get around to doing any serious track events again. I will be going down to Front: 8kg and Rear: 5KG. Hopefully it will make it less dangerous to drive around here when I am pushing it.

They also said they will revalve my struts for 400 bucks to any specs I want. They said if I can give them a shock dyno of what I want, they can set it up for me. So maybe down the road when I have money and need to rebuild them, I will maybe try and mimic some DMS or blistien setups.

No wonder my car is so damn stiff. Here is the spring rates.

picture1oa5.png

1 kg/mm = 56 lb/in

I think all this time I have been reading off the spring rates of SS teins as my own. If this chart is right, I am running F: 12kg, 674 & R: 8kg, 450, which explains why this car is hard to drive on a bad road. Until I verify my spring's part number it is possible that I have 10kg (564lb) in the front and 7kg (393lb) in the rear.

Compared to the SS being F: 8kg, 448 & R: 4kg 224.

I will be switching to F: 8kg, 450-448 & R: 5kg ~281.

Still stiff, but not near as bad.

Just to compare my 350z spring rates are F: 314 & R: 342

i just read through 28 pages hoping i could see a picture of how you made your brackets for your heat exchanger. and i found none.

i was trying to work some brackets today for the cobra heat exchanger i have just like yours. im not too sure about how well a steel bracket will weld onto aluminum.

so im very intrested to know how you mounted your heat exchanger.

I do and I don't. When we remove the wire from the ECU that makes the AC work, the car runs poorly.

So I am going to have to wire in a switch for the AC.

I put my clutch pedal back together. I was not able to adjust the shaft but I moved the stopper a little. It helps shifting some.

Talk about a pain in the ass.

I Got my new IC today. I am going to prep it for heat insulation and sell my old one. Once my plugs and wires get here I will install all that, move my MAP sensor and hopefully send the car off for paint.

Another 205 core. Since I am restoring the car, and want to do as little work as possible, I figured I could buy one that is in near perfect shape wit the sticker and everything instead of doing it myself. I replaced it with the same thing. Just with factory paint on it still.
