SAAQ Banning RHD Vehicles in QC for 180 Days

Brothers and Sisters of the RHD Community,

As the title to this post states, the province of Quebec had put an all out ban on new Right Hand Drive vehicle registrations. This ban is in effect as of yesterday and official notice was received yesterday.

For 180 days, no newly aquired RHD vehicles may be registered in the province for use on public highways.

Please join our fight on www.IVOAC.ca as we will need all the support we can get. This temporary ban is in jeopardy of becoming permanant and spreading to other provinces if we do not stand up.

We are currently rallying to get as many stakeholders on board as possible and will have plans in place shortly.

That is bullshit ... theres no fucking difference between left or right hand cars , they just look better .. thats so unfair.

I live here, in Quebec and I can tell you that on every car forum, this is a very live topic! The goverment decidedto prohibit RHD cars without even giving a notice. This law was effective on the day it was announced.

Here is a petition that you can sign, if you want to give support. As some others say: This may spread to other provinces and maybe to the USA. Who knows. Let's get strong and face them. We have to show the government that RHD cars are as safe as LHD, by being polite and intelligent.

Some meetings are organised in front of the governement's office, etc. Please Help!

signed the above petition. I personally don't have a rhd but i think its absurd that the gov. can do a ban like this. I would hate to see rhd cars being unable to come to canada.

I signed and joined both. Is there a reason or cause for them doing this? I would hate to see this spread any farther I love my RHD cars, I learned how to drive in one it's sentimental.

Thanks to the Province for posting this anti-RHD article (see first link below) right at the same time that this Quebec RHD temporary ban stuff is going down.

The discussion on IVOAC (second link below) shows that this reporter met with some members of IVOAC as part of her story, and yet she left their side of the story out of this article entirely.

There is a comments section at the bottom as well as an email address to send Susan Lazaruk comments about her "article". I am composing my response to hopefully be added to the comments section as we speak.
