Re: MWP's Australian ST185
Me competing in one of the rounds of the Collingrove Hillclimbs last year...
I was mid-pack in times with ~8 WRX that were also competing, so i was quite happy with that.
Normally i run ~14.5PSI, but on track days ill turn it all the way up to 18PSI.
The Microtech ECU has pretty awesome launch-control/2-step, so the car is throwing flames out the exhaust and spooling ~10psi before I launch

Heh, actually the car has very little body roll, but the rear sway bar may be set a tad too stiff.
I took that corner too fast, was under steering horribly
Sure, we can trade
I did a stint in the AB Rockies (lived in Canmore), loved it. Want to get back ASAP.

Nice GT4 - I like the black/white combo on the hood/bonnet. Strut tops - adjustable camber or more than that (since they are angled)
The engine bay look very good nice and clean. Interesting heat shield - assuming a thinner sheet metal? Or is it in addition to stock heat shield?
Either way I certainly love the looks and stance of the car.
One thing I miss about Australia - the beaches. I stayed with my relatives who live in Brisbane for 2 months - man it was gorgeous.

Re: MWP's Australian ST185
Thanks
The heatshield is this stuff: http://www.aclperformance.com.au/prod_heatshield.htm
Very easy to buy sheets of it here in Aus, and quite cheap (a $40 sheet was big enough to make that shield).
Its also easy to work with, bend, etc.
Beaches are great, but during these 38degC (~100degF) days, like today, i would rather be in the northern hemisphere skiing somewhere

Re: MWP's Australian ST185
I did some fuel & timing tuning this week, car now drives a lot better and should use less fuel than previously.
My new tweaked ignition map:

As its a Microtech ECU (=crap), it doesnt have a 3D ignition map, just two 2D maps.
The image is a screen cap of an excel sheet i use to better visualise and work out the timing.
Any more timing at the top end and itll ping, so i dont think i can do much better than this.
Might tweak in a few more degrees here and there in the mid load range though.

Me at the Motorkhana today
I had intermittent power steering issues which made turning some corners VERY difficult

Re: MWP's Australian ST185
So yesterday I had a go at fixing my power steering issues.
Im hoping a better powersteering cooler and fresh PS fluid will do the trick.
First up was to move my intercooler lower (~5cm) and further forward (~3cm).
Main reason was to make room behind the intercooler for the new power steering cooler, but itll also should help with airflow onto the intercooler itself.
Before:

After:

I then installed the new power steering cooler. Its a trans cooler from a Falcon.
Very big squeeze to make it fit!
Has about 3mm of clearence from the pop up headlights, is right against the headlight motor, and about 5mm clearance to the indicator light on the bumper.
