shift cable interchangeability/prob w shifting

i picked up a 91 alltrac awhile ago w a blown HG still drivable.

the shifts felt sloppy/ binding.
when i started pulling the motor i noticed that the vertical/front was not secured in w the u flange.
i tried to secure it but wasnt wanting to really. and had no luck.
after further progress into work i noticed that i have a set of 92+ cables in it the larger one being my problem.
and the dust boot on the firewall was missing which further adds to my assumption that they were swapd.
wanna do this while the motor is still out.

so has any seen a 91 w these cables?

will 90 GT cables work on a alltrac? asking bc i has a spare set somewhere..

if not does anyone have 90-91 cables for sale?

I don't think the problem is your shift cables. AFAIK the only difference in the pre and post revision cables is the size of that one round end.
Are you sure the cable is installed correctly? If they're on the wrong side and/or twisted it's really hard to get that clip in. It's got to be pretty much perfectly straight.

And the GTS cables are different.

yea i doubt that the cables were installed correctly! this motor had be out and put on a budget build. bolts missing every where. pass side motor mount studs were off centered! only 1 was in.

just wanna make sure if itll be a problem?
or like u said just installed in correctly...
its was 2,4,R i had play in which was that cable.

the guy didnt know what he had n did it really lazy thats why i only paid $650 for it w a blown HG.
im trying to get a thread together..
car is clean minus the cluster and piss poor work under the hood..
