New Hatch Cover

So my old hatch cover was pretty thrashed. But still in one piece. Took it out, traced it and tonight I'll put the support rods on it and carpet it. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1423872940.383940.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1423872960.040729.jpg

Interesting - what kind of board did you use to make the replacement? I may need to do this on my Celica ST as the rear deck cover has disintegrated from 20+ years of sun exposure. Toyota_Todd thinks he has one coming for me on order from Japan, but in case that never shows up, I was curious what you used.

I used a quarter inch thick piece of Masonite. It's very sturdy but easily drilled and cut. I bought a roll of cheap auto carpet from Walmart. It was back by the floor mats. It's not really thick but it shapes very well. I used a spray adhesive made by Loctite on the top and used heavy coats. Then laid the carpet and folded it around the edges and cut reliefs so it didn't wrinkle. Then used a staple gun to staple the edges to the bottom of the board. Turned out awesome IMHO lol

Used a roll of cheap auto carpet from the floor mat isle in wal mart. Make sure you do this in a warm place so the carpet can stretch. I used a can of Loctite spray adhesive and a staple gun to staple the excess under the panel.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1424244402.542136.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1424244414.790381.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1424244457.183004.jpg
