need cam seals replacement info

replacing my cam seals and i have a question.

the #1 bearing caps have journals assuming they are for oil

looked it up in the bgb and it just calls for rtv on the outside side of it.
and journals are for the oil? bgb didnt shine any light on it from when i was reading.
just want to make sure so i dont get excessive rtv in the journals resealing everything.

I replaced my cam seals without removing the engine, valve cover, and obviously bearing caps. .

I just used a pick to pull the seals out and installed the replacement seals using a large socket with a large bolt through the middle of it.

the RTV goes neatly in the groove under the cap, and then in the corners to seal against the valve cover gasket. TO much here can cause issues. make sure to lubricate the seal ID and OD when installing and the cam as well

Cool thanks I rtv the journal but I wasn't sure since I referred back to the manual and it just says out side of the journal

hey klue are you sure the rtv goes in the journal?

im second guessing my self.

the cam cap has journals fro what ima assuming for oil return
as the cam shaft has a hole for an oil passage to lubricate the rotating
surface im assuming.

and if rtved that would block the passage for the return..

just wanna see what you have to say.

I just done this job about 4 weeks ago with the engine in the car.

It takes about 5 hours from start to finish.

I would be happy to talk you through it, skype .etc...

Get all replacement belts and rocker cover gaskets .etc.
