This story starts in 2008, when I was a sophomore in high school, ready to drive and itching to get my license. There was only one car that I knew I wanted, which was a 1993 Toyota MR2 Turbo; little did I know that after two years of searching and test-driving a handful of MR2’s, I would find myself with this Fully Loaded, Bone Stock, White-on-Ivory Leather 1993 Toyota MR2 Turbo on August 9th 2010. The MR2 in this generation was built from 1989 to 1999, but unfortunately, in the States, we only got these cars from 1989 to 1995, due to new smog regulations and the standard of OBD2. The 1993 2nd generation MR2 was special because they did some minor updates, including installing larger brakes, 15in wheels, longer tie rods, shorter shifter, lower springs, a front lip and limited slip differential from the factory. After four years of accumulating rare parts and restoring/upgrading my MR2, I found myself with what most people in the MR2 community now know as the “TRD Spec MR2,” which has the largest collection of Toyota Racing Development parts on a single MR2, minus the 2000GT Widebody and several TRD perishable items (oil filter, brake pads, clutch, etc).

Flashback to 2012, after owning my MR2 for two years: like any car person, in the back of my head was the same refrain -- what’s next? One platform that stood out to me was the Alltrac, not only because of its World Rally Championship history, but also because it shares the same heart as the MR2 -- an engine I grew very familiar with. In October 3rd, 2014, after hunting on Craigslist for two years, I found a great example of a Bone Stock Fully Loaded Black-on-Grey Leather 1993 Toyota Celica Alltrac in a neighboring city. It wasn’t posted for sale or on Craigslist, but I encountered it at a local shop, and I knew that this was the car I wanted. After talking to the owner weeks later, and test driving the car, we reached a verbal agreement that I would be the next person in line for ownership of the car. That date would be October 28th, 2017 -- after three years of waiting patiently, that car became mine. Again, 1993 was a special year for the Toyota Celica Alltrac. Not only was it the final year in which the Alltrac Celica was imported to the United States, but it would be just one of 81 shipped in the entirety of 1993. Other minor updates done for this model included a shorter shifter, different tail lights, and a badge on the hood of the car. After owning it for a little over a year, I’ve made the effort to restore and upgrade the car while keeping it close to its original United States Domestic Market Cosmetic Trim and paying homage to its World of Rally Championship history.

It appeared to be all there and original, not missing a thing.
Only having obvious maintenance stuff replaced here and there.

I knew I had my work cut out for me, 25 years of wear and tear!

Fast forward to October 28th 2017

I BOUGHT THE CAR!!! The wait was over she was finally mine
The car comes home with me and gets some much needed attention.
Took the seats out vacuumed the complete interior, did a complete exterior wash, took the wheels off individually and cleaned from behind, and a quick wipe down of the engine bay!

The interior was pretty worn, I knew I would have to do something about it.
I took the cheesy steering wheel cover off, radio wasn't working, the sun visors wouldn't stay up, cup holder wouldn't stay in the in position, seats were torn, and the shift knob banana'd itself

And lastly the heart!
and the reason why the previous owner sold it to me, the turbo was blown, and was burning a lot of oil out the tail pipe.

I knew it was time to start ordering parts!
decided on ordering a CT27 from the reducible people at ATS Racing, I wanted to keep it with the OEM Look, but have a little more punch than normal at stock boost. It also happens to be the same turbo I have in my 1993 MR2 Turbo.

http://www.atsracing.net/Parts/Index/CT27

I live in California, and unfortunately have to deal with smog, the great thing about the ATS Racing CT27 is that it appears stock when everything is put back in place.

Suspension, Wheels, and Tires!

Suspension!
Since the ST185 has the most aftermarket support out of all the Alltracs, this wasn't hard.
I decided to go with a USA Brand, Fortune Auto, they were being put on some really competitive cars on Global Time Attack
https://fortune-auto.com/about/

The coilovers I picked up Fortune Auto 500's Generation 5, You can order it from the link below and they'll send you the latest version of the coilover
https://motorsportsammo.com/collections ... t185-90-93

I opted to go with the Swift Spring upgrade

Wheels/Tires!
Man oh Man! The tires were bald on my stock 5th gen Celica wheels, and I really wanted All Season Tires so I could put the AWD System to use one day, I ended up picking up a set of 7th Gen Celica GTS Wheels, sourced locally from Daniel Wong, they were painted white so I ended up painting them back to silver, and a set of BF Goodrich G-force Comp 2 A/S 205/50R16 from the local Firestone

Creature Comforts!

Leather Interior!
Man my interior was really showing its 25 years of age!
Torn seats all around, center arm rest, and shift knob, all were in desperate needs to be reskined
I ended up Contacting an Ebay Seller who sold seat skins, Asked him if he could do both the front and rear seats of the Celica in real leather, perforated inserts, like the original (vinyl/fake leather) seats

https://www.ebay.com/usr/leatherseats11 ... 2749.l2754
Yes, my seat skins are from Australia.

Unfortunately the arm rest wasn't a template they had, so I had to get it done at a local upholstery shop (took them the seat skins so they could get as close to the same color as possible).
It took me 3 days to reskin the seats myself.

Radio!
Since the factory unit was no longer operational, I decided to get a double din, with Apple Carplay and Android Auto capabilities. Pioneer AVH-2440NEX Unfortunately I wasn't able to figure out how to get the retracting antenna to work with it.

A'PEXi !! 1/1 A'PEXi GT Exhaust & A'PEXi Power Intake!

Goal was to get an A'PEXi Exhaust N1 Exhaust, did some forum searching, and had no luck. I ended up contacting A'PEXi USA and after months of back and forth with A'PEXi USA, we came to the conclusion and in both of our best interests to build a one off days before Toyota Fest 2018, "One of One A'PEXi GT Exhaust" hand built and designed by Chuck Griffice and myself.

Toyota Fest 2018!
June 2nd 2018
134-4059_ToyotaCelica-ST185-All-Trac.jpg
Thank you Japanese Nostalgic Car!

"According to owner RJ Panillio, his second-gen All-Trac is one of only 81 imported in 1993, the final year for the ST185 chassis. With an upgrade to the turbo, the addition of coilovers, a custom Apex’i exhaust and wheels from a 7th-gen Celica GT-S, the car presents a nice OEM-plus style. It’s a shame we don’t see more of these, as the 200-horsepower, 200 lb-ft AWD coupes were the ultimate iteration — at least what was offered in the States — of Toyota’s WRC homologation car. With 200 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque, they were essentially a Subaru WRX or Lancer Evo long before those cars were available in the US."
