Alternative For Expensive OEM Relays

The starter relay, fuel pump relay, and EFI main relay are very expensive for the OEM replacements. Are there any equivalent aftermarket relays that are cheaper?

Also, did other Toyota cars use the same relays? I was able to use an ABS module from a Lexus on the All-trac and it was only $10 on ebay. It was the same part.

We can get part numbers and cross reference those part numbers to vehicles using them, if you tell us exactly what car you have. You didn't tell us that, and your user information lacks it also.

St185 fuel pump relay
28380-30010

I see some on ebay that say they came from an ls400. Toyota parts deal is only showing the st185 as having it.

Lexus parts now is showing only the 90-93 ls400 as having it.

Not sure about other relays yet.

Chill out 93celicaconv, he's just asking for help. No need to bring the attitude.
And I would like to offer help. I just don't want to make assumptions that end up going in the wrong direction. No attitude in wanting to understand.

Starter Relay: 28300-10010: Used in 1987-1994 Tercel, 1992-1995 Paseo, 1990-1993 Celica (all models including ST, GT, GT-S & All-Trac

Fuel Pump Relay: 28380-30010: Used in 1990-1994 Lexus LS400 as P/N 28380-50010 California Spec, 1990-1993 Celica All-Trac only

EFI ECU Relay: 90987-02004: Used in 1980-1999 Tercel, 1992-1999 Paseo, 1984-1993 Corolla, 1985-1995 MR2, 1978-1993 Celica (all ST, GT, GT-S & All-Trac models), 1979-1981 Corona, 1983-1996 Camry, 1990-1991 Lexus ES250, 1992-1996 Lexus ES300, 1986-1998 Supra, 1978-1992 Cressida, 1992-1999 Lexus SC300/400, 1984-1989 Toyota Van, 1990-1997 Previa, 1979-1983 Toyota Pickup, 1984-1995 4Runner, 1989-2004 Hilux, 1990-current Land Cruiser

I would say salvage yards are full of starter relays and EFI ECU relays, but fuel pump relays will be a challenge.

The parts are for my 90 Celica All-Trac, ST185. As 93celicaconv pointed out, I neglected to mention that. For that, I apologize because he is right. Yes, I am assuming 93celicaconv is a he, just like Magroo made an educated guess that the issue was for an ST185....He he.

I must say this, 93celicaconv has gone above and beyond in that last post. That was the exact answer I was looking for and will be usefull for many others that use it to save some big bucks.
Thank you very much.

If relays cannot be found, cut the wires and install an regular automotiv relay. I did that with my car.
Fuel pump relay is bridged for 25 years now. Useless relay!

Very curious about this, do you know the part # and/or what Lexus it was from?

I think it was from an 92-95 ES300. It looks just like the one that came on my 90 All-Trac and has the same part number. I will try to get that number for a later post.

Hey guys, how about we keep this subject going and give some more alternatives for other parts that fit the ST185 that can be sourced from other Toyotas?

Now I'm really curious, because the Lexus one looks quite different. Photo for reference:

I am now getting the ABS light on the dash. So, just like last time this happened, I just bought another ABS relay module. $15 on Ebay.

The part # is 88263-12070

It is located next to the passenger side headlight by an A/C line and near the alternator. Mine is not clipped in so I wish I had a picture of actually how this module is properly positioned in the engine bay.

Here is a picture.

If that replacement ABS relay doesn't solve your problem, there are codes for the ABS system (I think) that can be accessed by jumping two terminals on the diagnostic port. There is for the engine ECU and the cruise control system anyway. If you need help with that, just ask.

Thanks guys for the great advice. However, the ABS light now comes on and then properly goes out a few moments after the car starts. Hopefully, the car is just working itself back to normalcy since it was sitting dormant for 3 and 1/2 years.

For now, I will just put this ABS module with my other spare fuses and relays that I keep in the trunk.
