Removing the gasket around the inlet of the fuel filler neck:

I am in the process of dropping my fuel tank and would like to do it with the fuel filler neck attached. What is the best method of removing the gaskets around the fuel filler neck inlet? They are preventing me from dropping the tank as the fuel filler neck bevels outward hitting the gaskets.

Thanks!

Take the gas cap off first if you haven't. You can pull right past the gasket but if you want to remove it take out the 4 bolts where the gas cap is.

I did this with the tank dropped but without it dropped it's really hard to get to the screws around the neck. If they're at all rusted (which they probably are) you'll need to douse them in PB blaster and it also may require a pair of Vice grips, which you can not work with in/under the wheel well / quarter panel. Dropping the tank really isn't too hard, but make sure you disconnect all fuel lines / hoses first because the fuel pump hanger WILL break. If you want another in depth view, check my out Lazarus thread. I've done it here:
