Help - Front suspension bottoming out (st165)

Postby NC_ST165_1988 » Wed Apr 14, 2021 2:58 pm

Guys,

I added the 17 inch oz wheels and now have an issue.

The front suspension bottoms out and allows the inner top fender to contact the driver tire only.

I believe the front springs are worn out. It hits really hard. I did purchase the kyb inserts however I don't think this will stop the bottoming out.

1. Where can I find replacement springs for the front?
2. Do you think the inserts would stop the suspension from bottoming out?

Thank you and all input welcome,

Andrew

The replacement strut insert will fix the issue. The spring only sets the ride height but the fresh shocks will help with compression/rebound and from bottoming out. Maybe the driver side shocks are already toast. I run 17s on mine all day, no rubbing issue whatsoever. I'm assuming the OZ wheels are 17x8 +35? What tire size?

Measure from the hub to the fender to see if the springs are trashed but it's likely just the toasted dampers. My brothers MR2 had this problem one just one corner that had a blown strut. New struts and it was good to go.

The oz wheels are 17x8 with 35mm offset. Bought off tirerack.

Tires are 215/40 r 17.

Thank you all so much. You have made my day! Getting the shocks replaced asap.
