Well after taking a break from this project since October I finally got going again. I found a set of used ST165 shifter cables on eBay over the winter and installed them this weekend. Before I put them in I compared to the shifter cables I was having trouble with. Very obviously I installed one correct cable and one from likely a ST202 Celica. That was an idiotic thing to do on an otherwise trouble free swap.

Now with the correct shifter cables in and an upgraded shifter spherical bushing (PRIMEMR2) it feels nice and tight. Put the interior back together.

Next step is bleed the clutch, adjust the gas pedal to work with the ST205 accelerator cable, and clean up the misc wiring and modules in the engine bay. Then take it for it's first drive in 20 years!!!!

One fully restored gas tank going back in. Lots of $$ into this part. New fuel pump and all new gaskets. Tank was dipped and refinished. Pump assembly removed of its rust.

I never noticed you mention who did your gas tank? I need to redo mine as well. Was is the place in Minnesota? If not, where please? TIA!

In the long saga of "when are you going to be done with that Celica?"

Been working on the car a lot since the snow stopped falling. Last fall I had to remove the clutch hydraulic line completely to clean it out. Could not get a bleed to work as the fluid was clogged up in there. Fun times. Got a decent bleed on that and the brake lines which also had ancient fluid in them.

Here in the spring I thought it's time to get it on the road in my neighborhood and see how it feels. Well the clutch and the brakes aren't bled very well so that's sketchy. Runs pretty decent but idle went to shit and it died in the driveway on the way to the garage. Took apart the IACV and it was dirty but not clogged. Idled well without the WTA intercooler attached. Not as well with it on. Super sensitive to vacuum lines. Got it back on the road and anytime under load trying to get into boost the car bucks and shutters then goes into wicked limp mode. Now it dies soon after starting it. No check engine light. It's got to be the fuel. Changed the fuel filter (again) and the fuel coming through is still pretty brown. Awesome. I'll have to drop that fuel tank again. Get it restored again. Wish a new fuel tank was available. Getting closer...

OK! Hit a milestone today. Drove it out on the county roads here now that I fixed the power steering system. That was a fucking knuckle buster!

Car honestly feels really nice. Was well maintained before it blew it's engine in 2003. Suspension and steering feel solid. Seats are comfortable! I have coilovers but I'll put those on in the future. Even got the heat to work!

Car is insured now and probably go get it registered soon. Still need to connect charge cooler system which required some custom 7/8" to 3/4" connections so once those show up I'll do that. need to hook up the gauge package as well.

Should be ready for ice racing in January. Good lord this was a project!

Oh and my fuel and vacuum situation are solved. I put in a high flow fuel pump which resolved the issue. Capped the vacuum lines that weren't being used.

all factory including the stereo. Wish it had the system 10 stereo but I'm happy. Has the stock 15 inch wheels but these 17 inch look pretty decent.

Yeah it's been off the road since 2011.

Refresh engine and seats. Steering rack is leaking also. Get it painted. Sell on BAT in 2025 hopefully
